anisfarhana has joined #arpnetworks anisfarhana: Hiya everyone sorressean: howdy. :) anisfarhana: Fine and good thx for asking
Just sleepy , almost 12 here phlux: not even 11 am here yet :) anisfarhana: I assume you in state. ant: now 6pm here ;) anisfarhana: Thanks to IRC , because of it we can gather in one place here!
lol phlux: Yes, I'm in the US ***: HighJinx has joined #arpnetworks sorressean: are the arpnetworks servers multi core, or do we just get one ant: for vpses, default is one core sorressean: meh. really?
I like the extra ram, but only one core kind of sucks. ant: you can buy more sorressean: o. awesome
I didn't know that. ant: it's kind of hidden...you have to click on "Learn More"
and then scroll down... sorressean: I can keep going with dev then and when I need to scale I can grab up some more cores. I guess my final question is I'm trying to pull as much speed out of this as I can. I'm compiling key ports well, everything now with gcc4.8 with -march=native to allow for faster speeds, have people recompiled the bsd kernel to closely match the host hardware?
ant: nods, I've not spent much time in the portal.
ah, I didn't look at powerups. that's really cool actually, only $2 per hazardous: hi everypony up_the_irons: hello anisfarhana: hiya up_the_irons ***: heavysixer has quit IRC (Quit: heavysixer) phlux: wait wait
powerups? anisfarhana: powerups is the UPS with more power?
:D phlux: I don't see anything about that in the dashboard :|
I really should move my weechat instance back to my ARP vps.. ant: phlux: it's not in the dashboard. it's on the main site behind the "Learn More" button phlux: woah
256MB of RAM for $5 anisfarhana: If you need extra RAM, Disk, Bandwidth, or IPs, you can add what you need in the following increments
nice work arpnetworks! phlux: for an extra $11, I can have a VPS with 1024MB ram and 4 cores anisfarhana: Its just like the subway! phlux: The only problem I can see with ordering them is that I *really* can't afford to reboot that VPS at the moment ***: codecaver has joined #arpnetworks
codecaver has quit IRC (Client Quit) anisfarhana: Why not? love the uptime? ***: codecaver has joined #arpnetworks phlux: Well, presently, it's accounting for most of my network traffic
but I guess I could divert temporarily ***: heavysixer has joined #arpnetworks
ChanServ sets mode: +o heavysixer toddf: phlux: reboot is quick, provisioning of powerups happens in the 'to take effect next time vps is powered off and started' scene, so you can choose when to activate your powerup, power to the people/vps! sorressean: only concern I'm assuming I'll run into is storage. but I think I might be able to configure something to backup logs and stuff to amazon s3 ***: levglonti has joined #arpnetworks sorressean: encrypt plus backup. I'll just have to write something. ***: levglonti has left brycec: sorressean: or use duplicity (gpg+S3)
Also, ARP has their own backup option sorressean: brycec: nods.

I get a redirect to https://www.facebook.com/sorry.php?msg=account staticsafe: i can't check if i can login because i don't have an account :p RandalSchwartz: weird - my facebook mobile app works just fine
ahh - http://www.facebook.com/help/134401680031995/
yeah, if you're logged out, you can see the home page
but once you try to log in, things are broken ***: heavysixer has quit IRC (Quit: heavysixer) mercutio: facebook often breaks for groups of users randal
so even if you have issue logging in someone else may be fine
same with pages loading slow btw
they do some kind of load balancing magic
but i think it's kind of complicated
like trying to group people who are friends with other to show news feeds quicker ***: heavysixer has joined #arpnetworks
