Any known issues right now? SMTP is timing out, SSH is denying me and console isn't working? I have no connection issues with my VPS Mine also appears to be working fine I can't get shell access to mine :| I'll send a support ticket -- thanks guys Is this a potential outcome of running out of space or memory? I haven't checked the usage in a couple months because it's quite beefy for what I use it for (a mail server for 6 users) Other than that, can't imagine what's awry ahstanford: If you can't pull up console (assuming you mean you can't connect to the out-of-band console), then it's more likely a connectivity issue. Otherwise, sure, an out-of-memory condition could cause problems. Easy way to test - do a hard-reboot from portal.arpnetworks.com Yeah, console gave me: Enter alexanderstanford@kvr25's password: [`full-ambit-media' -- console is down] From the ARP portal Ah Sounds like your VPS isn't running (may have crashed) Alright. Sadface. I guess that's what I get for not paying it much attention the past couple months It It's not coming up via reboot I guess I'm out of options from my end Anything on the VNC console? double checking... It's saying login incorrect Maybe I'm using the wrong root pw? VNC uses the password that's given on the portal. page And be sure to hit the right port ;P I'm in VNC, but I need to log in to the VPS Ah SSH public key authentication is required to access this server. would that be my issue? ahstanford: that only applies to console.cust.arpnetworks.com Once you're VNC'd in, you're looking directly at your VPS. Any issues therein are yours. Got it, thanks Got in with my SSH key. Apparently I disabled password auth and forgot. *blush ahstanford: welcome to the wonderful world of serial + video remote access where you too can be your own remote hands at fixing your own problem at arpnetworks ;-) Right before console.cust asks for the password, there is a message: "If you see the message "console is down", press `^Eco' (CTRL-E followed by 'c' then 'o') to "open" the tty" ahstanford: FYI ^^ ah, thanks anyone ever used Spree for an online store? no, but I can recommend Shopify should you need something robust. Its a bit overkill in most cases though. ah, host-yourself. sorry, n/m then yeah just open a tor bridge and route bitcoind to .onion space and accept bitcoins, then you can really shine given there is practically zero tolerance for abusers, so why do you need to know who we are? *grin* the truth is out there! offer ovpn over onioncat for ipmi access.. and an onioncat address for the misc kvr systems (or a single one that maps ports to various kvr systems) .. that could get fun ;-) Wait, how did we get from online store to secure IPMI access? brycec: lol that's what I was thinking sorry I thought a lot and spoke intermittent results up_the_irons is talking about hosting his own store (if I follow properly) from his own store he wants to process cc #'s or use a 3rd party like paypal to do it from paypal, some people have started taking bitcoins and if one is doing bitcoins with maximum privacy its over tor I followed that far and if one sets up tor then you can setup onioncat and get a single IPv6 IP that talks to other IPv6 addresses over a single /48 on a tun(4) interface and once you do that .. one might as well have anonymous access to manage kvm's at arpnetworks the ovpn access to ipmi is already in place for arp metal incase you didn't already know ovpn access to ipmi over onioncat `makes sense in theory' since its just another address to listen to ;-) one can run tor w/out being an exit node and still use onioncat and such just randomly thinking outloud of course of course if one were permitting anonymous access via onioncat its not quite so anonymous in that one could literally provide the address of their local onioncat address to a list of permitted ips to hit ipmi and such from in the event abuse was a concern I want toddf's brain I'll take his kidneys... they are probably worth something to someone :) I'm sure they are worth a lot to toddf actually. sell them back to him! over a tor onion, paypal, ipv6 store! I think paypal in that equation negates onion/tor... I am stumped by the output to this command (CentOS 5): ls -lh | grep httpd ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? httpd never seen those kind of owner, group and permissions before it means you dont have permission to read the permissions _mnathani_: ^ wow i've never seen that eiter My Google foo leads me to believe some kind of file system corruption that was my initial impression as well when Linux bombs at reading my SD card (and I need to remount it), it'll have question marks everywhere "I got write speed at 415MB/s" on a solid state? Customer reporting their SSD speed in their new ARP Metal box yup man i think i'll order a couple for myself ;) That's the OCZ Agility 3 :P I told you they're fast consumer grade or enterprise grade? that's a consumer-grade but they're solid _mnathani_: I've seen that before with corruption and/or rootkits. brb brycec: :) _mnathani_: those are consumer, yeah up_the_irons: did the drives arrive? jbergstroem: yeah, i was just about to reply to your ticket. i had the drives, but not the 2.5 -> 3.5 enclosures. I got those today and i'm heading to the DC to ready up your server (as soon as I clear my tickets) What do you guys think of Flickr's new makeover? up_the_irons: great, thanks. np sup! up_the_irons: if you could attach the latest sysrescuecd (3.6.0), that would be great as well awyeah: yo jbergstroem: systemrescuecd-x86-3.6.0.iso is in the ISO library jbergstroem: you'll be able to mount it yourself, but i can also do it as part of the setup up_the_irons: oh, didn't know i actually could choose myself, just choose from up_the_irons: never mind then We can mount ISOs ourselves on VPSs? jbergstroem: :) awyeah: no, this is for a dedicated server Yay, I walked into the middle of a conversation and had no context! Time for bed. Too bad there aren't any IRC logs... Oh wait, there are! :p Hien: yeah, that's why I got an NTT link, good connections in the APNIC region Hien: AS 7643 doesn't have a peeringdb page, odd Hien: yeah, my network to 123.30.128.162 goes straight over NTT up_the_irons: Singtel is better than NTT from my side :) Hien: yeah i peer with Singtel too I'm confused... Am I missing part of this conversation? nvm brycec: part of it was private until i we "went live" ;) heh up_the_irons: But i saw NTT always take over Singtel. up_the_irons: do you support route my /29 via Singtel only ? :) Hien: this is where it gets tricky; if there is the same number of AS hops, then it is hard to determine which is picked. Hien: nobody supports sending smaller blocks than /24 these days up_the_irons: oh :) up_the_irons: i just recieved email from my ISP said they are fixing problem with SMW3 cable and maybe affected Singtel connection. this maybe reason go via NTT i remember last week, i always via Singtel :) anyway thank you so much up_the_irons :) ah yes, it could be the busted cable then Hien: no problem :) i go out for a moment :) brb. good day everyone Hien: seamewe3 broke again? it's not uncommon to see people setting local preference to prefer any2ix over transit well peering over transit in general not always a good thing, but cheaper yeah, generally networks trust peers over transit (cheaper, like mercutio said) but if i use ipv6 it works around it actually it looks like the ipv6 is going over any2ix too 2001:504:13::24 not sure who that is yet CoreSite i think it's telstraclear NetName: CORESITE---ANY2---IPV6 yeah it's any2ix so that doesn't say provider but there's one hop that says telstraclear the rest of the hops have no reverse lookup :/ cust-ge-0-1-0-969.xcore2.telstraclear.net mercutio: my ISP, told they're fixing SMW3 (s2.1) cable from May 5 to May 26 :) it only just god fixed between perth/singapore tok months and it looks like it's still fine mercutio: i got lost connection any route via Singtel on May 6 about 1 hour . Can not connect Yahoo/FB...etc this week it seems back to stable. But few routes still via NTT hien: from what country? it's prob a diff leg mercutio: i'm from viet nam. jbergstroem: read this: http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/dedicated-servers/customer-vpn jbergstroem: you'll need to be on the VPN to access the server's console #!/usr/bin/env python import random for i in range(0, 100): if not i % 15: random.seed(1178741599) print [i+1, "Fizz", "Buzz", "FizzBuzz"][random.randint(0,3)] whoops, ignore that, dunno why irssi didn't prompt accidental paste lol up_the_irons: roger that there's 5 cables in vietnam hien well 5 submarine so they should have had redundancy imo hazardous: gl hf with the job interview! \o/ ahhaha jbergstroem: why would you think that hazardous: this: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2007/02/fizzbuzz-the-programmers-stairway-to-heaven.html or rather, this: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2007/02/why-cant-programmers-program.html oh i'm not a programmer :V but nah not an interview my friend was looking at https://github.com/Mikkeren/FizzBuzzEnterpriseEdition/blob/master/src/main/java/com/seriouscompany/business/java/fizzbuzz/packagenamingpackage/impl/printers/NewLineStringPrinter.java
