Just trying to compare my options between a Linode VPS and an Arpnetwork VPS. Does Arpnetworks offer Load Balancing, IP-Failover, or private IP addresses for VPS instances? Those seem to be the compelling features of Linode.
codecaver: you are assigned a VLAN for all your dedicated / VPS needs. You can use any private IP scheme within that VLAN as you like. The public IP / Gateway will be assigned to you.
codecaver: Also bandwidth within hosts on your VLAN do not count towards your bandwidth quota
Nice, that's great to hear. Any thoughts on the load balancer side? I intend to have 2-3 web servers running Nginx. On Linode, I've done this very easily with their "NodeBalancer" offering, but I'm not sure how to achieve the same thing with a host like Arpnetworks.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I know I can get this working with something like HAProxy or Varnish as a software load-balancer, but that will still seem to introduce a single point of failure into the architecture. It would be great if two nodes running Haproxy could share the public-facing IP.
I guess that's possible with something like DNS round-robin, but I'd much prefer a solution that can be implemented on the hosts' network, like the load balancing features built-in to Cisco's iOS, say.
