Hello everyone. I got a VPS from ARPNet., testing it around.. Under OpenBSD 5.3, what kernel would you suggest to be builded? Would "GENERIC.MP" give some performance benefits over the system? Thanks. I believe your VPS has one core by default unless you order more cores, so I'm not sure the mp kernel would confer much benefit I could be wrong if you type: sysctl hw.ncpufound and the result is hw.ncpufound=1 then GENERIC.MP will cause performance loss vs GENERIC, MP is for multiple cpus Dmesg shows: cpu0: QEMU Virtual CPU version 0.12.3, 2600.54 MHz - and ONLY cpu0, so that's a single-core we'd assume? by default you get 1 cpu unless you specifically request it, is the other hint Yep, it outputs; hw.ncpufound=1 Many thanks toddf. also be sure to do the 'disable mpbios' or you'll wonder why the system hangs processing interrupts Oh, true. Thanks once again. hey hi there was a network problem right? or rather, my VM crashed or rather, the computer where my VM is was rebooted rpaulo: what system you on? kvrXX brycec: kvr22 up_the_irons was having problems with kvr02 the other day, but no mention of kvr22 this happened 30 min ago Anyone online tonight? Curious if anyone can tell me more about this line from the Dedicated Servers page: "built with redundancy and high availability in mind"
