HighJinx has joined #arpnetworks up_the_irons: woo, i have our new blades getting their IPMI IP from DHCP static leases; a monitor / kb has never physically touched those servers and yet they are ready to sell; bitchen...
(before, I would hook up a mon / kb just to set up IPMI for the first time) nixbag: sweet so it does work. up_the_irons: nixbag: yeah, i had to do some footwork on setting up a good dhcp server (there are several options), but now that appears to be complete and working ***: Webhostbudd has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out) nixbag: $ echo "mpg123 Two_Minutes_to_Midnight.mp3" | at 2358 up_the_irons: lol
put that on twitter so i can retweet it nixbag: you should just tweet it, i have no twitter :) up_the_irons: hah ***: LT has joined #arpnetworks -: up_the_irons looks around at all the sleeping people (at least the US folks :) LT: are the rest of us so bad you can't bear looking? up_the_irons: u guys are just text

i'm writing Knowledge Base articles on our new backup services; i have to do something to keep me sane LT: knowledge is always good... I didn't know there was a backup service up_the_irons: it's new nixbag: i am still awake somehow.. up_the_irons: nixbag: nice!
nixbag: it is because you woke up at 1:30pm, only 30 minutes before me nixbag: probably that. im just not getting sleepy up_the_irons: so when do u leave for missouri? nixbag: plus, i just saw a slomo of paula deen and oprah with a scary soundtrack in the background.
we leave wednesday at like 3am up_the_irons: ah
why am i still working at almost 4:30am... nixbag: you should takeacoffee break. up_the_irons: lol no

up_the_irons: "Backup storage space is provided as a limited / chroot shell account, on a separate server, with many standard archiving / backup tools available, such as the following,". 1) Lots of slashes, maybe change the "archiving / backup tools" to "archival and backup tools". 2), End that line with a colon:
(Granted, #2 is a matter of taste, but it's how I was raised/taught)
up_the_irons: Also, just curious what the managed monitoring of backups is, or what it entails?
up_the_irons: I would also like to see more information on why I would choose ARP's backup services: e.g. is it reliable, do I save on bandwidth costs, is it fast, etc
up_the_irons: As regards billing... Will you be just looking at the quotas at the end of the month? (allowing users to delete everything on the day before) Or will you be doing it Amazon-style, fully metered, (or at least measured every day)
?
Final question - I assume there will be an addition to the portal for quota usage?
Would be cool too if quota usage was graphed in Cactus alongside bandwidth.
(or is it Cacti? eff grammar) toddf: for now just ssh to your backup account and type 'du -h .' ;-) ***: heavysixer has joined #arpnetworks

If "the manual way" to do everything was the only way, I would be responsible for setting up my own VPS just for backups... but ARP wants to make life easier (and cheaper) ***: jlgaddis has joined #arpnetworks hazardous: hi woet ***: E1ven has joined #arpnetworks
