dzup has joined #arpnetworks toddf: I cannot get over the speed of the cpus arpnetworks uses for kvm hosts
I have a native system: hw.model=Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz ("GenuineIntel" 686-class); 'md5 -t' = '0.304561 seconds' .. arpnetworks = '0.241027 seconds' mercutio: eww :)
that cpu is very old toddf toddf: so sue me its 'new' compared to what I have otherwise
I don't need a lot of oomph to display xterms and browse the web for pdf documents and run mutt etc
so I get to acquire hardware via varying means at great discounts vs new and make it useful in my office ;-) ***: Ehtyar has joined #arpnetworks mike-burns: The Web is rather taxing these days. mnathani: The dedicated ones are quite nice: model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1240 V2 @ 3.40GHz tooth: it's amazing what you can run on if you're not using the latest gui toddf: motherboard bios is too smart for its own good. 'sata-0 smart status bad, backup and replace; press f1 to continue' (I press f1) 'press f4 to continue' (I press f4, goes into setup), exit setup, reboots .. I'm just tryin to boot sata-1 and attempt to recover any data I can off sata-0 ;-( guess I'll have to plugin sata-1 after bios has started loading /bsd .. mercutio: p4s are extremely slow
my email/irc is on a pentium d and that's slow enough ***: HighJinx has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 256 seconds) jbergstroem: is it possible to order extra disk space and get it assigned as a separate device? (not really needed at the moment, but in 2 months) brycec: jbergstroem: Yes http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/vps/how-do-i-upgrade-or-downgrade-my-vps
"We can provide additional disk space by attaching a second disk to your VPS. You can mount this second disk wherever is most appropriate to your setup." jbergstroem: thanks
Will I have to reboot my vm in order to pick up disk changes? (mentioned for ram, not for disk) brycec: Yes jbergstroem: roger ***: dzup has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
