[09:56] I too would like to summon the legendary up_the_irons [09:59] you'll probably have more luck asking your question (if you plan to ask it here) than waiting for him to show up then responding before he departs .. ;-) [09:59] * brycec emailed support@ yesterday... just want up_the_irons to fix the ssh key login with the backup [10:00] I had a busy weekend, just emailed my keys last night [10:00] heh [10:00] It's not taking my key for whatever reason [10:00] And he left password login enabled [10:00] debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey, password [10:00] sshd may advertise it, that doesn't mean the passwd file has a valid password.. [10:01] Oh I'm sure, but I think it's worth disabling [10:01] I can see how closing that opportunity makes sense though ;-) [10:01] At the very least, it would mean immediate failure (for anything scripted) [10:02] you can do that from the user perspective by doing '-o batchmode=yes' [10:02] yeah I know. Just something for him to smooth out [11:06] *** HighJinx has quit IRC () [11:09] brycec: toddf_ : yeah, password auth was left on for testing [11:09] Hi FireTalon [11:09] a wild up_the_irons appears [11:10] up_the_irons: Two questions on the possibly-up-and-coming-backup-service [11:11] 1) IPv6? (and/or a decent hostname) [11:11] 2) Does this count against our bandwidth? [11:15] 1) IPv6 will be enabled, of course, and also a good hostname 2) by default it does count against bandwidth b/c it is going to a different vlan, but I can add a 2nd interface to any VPS that "directly" link the vps to the backup server, and then it does not count against bandwidth (also it would go over a 1 Gbps link :) [11:18] I had a feeling that it did (for now). Of course, ipv6 would also clear up #2 ;P [11:20] yeah but at the moment i just don't want large file transfers going through my IPv6 router; it's not really built to carry very large file transfers across the local network [11:46] brycec: give the backup server another try, i found out why pub keys weren't working [12:05] FireTalon: so what type of robotics do you work on? [12:05] oh is gigabit coming soon for normal network? :) [12:06] it'll come when the new router is up [12:07] Fanuc [12:07] but that is pending on a new transit provider also, so i'm kinda waiting / negotiating with those guys. so in the mean time i'm working on the new backup service and also self-managed ISOs for VMs [12:07] mostly vision systems [12:07] FireTalon: sweet [12:08] currently designing software where a camera checks a windshield for defects, if it finds one, two robots grab it and move it over to a dead area, if it passes, the bots stack it [12:08] vision = awesome [12:08] the arms will follow your hands also :p [12:08] FireTalon: that sounds kind of fun :) [12:08] Thanks up_the_irons, logged in now [12:08] brycec: nice! [12:08] up_the_irons: concerned that there's an entry for my last-login though [12:08] Last login: Sat Feb 9 22:23:30 2013 from cpe-67-49-4-253.socal.res.rr.com [12:08] brycec: that's me :) [12:09] guessing you shoved your own pubkey in too? [12:09] yup [12:09] was testing stuff as regular user [12:09] good. would hate for my private key to have been hijacked [12:09] up_the_irons: How do users determine their quota usage? -bash: quota: command not found [12:09] well, technically, your pub key is ok for public viewing [12:10] brycec: hah, i knew you'd ask. i tried to get 'quota' to work in the chroot, but had some problems. i may revisit it later. [12:10] Yeah I know the pubkey is just that, public ;) But for you to have used it to login, you'd have to have used my private key... and that wouldn't be cool. [12:10] well at least there's du [12:10] brycec: yeah du is there [12:10] brycec: yeah that's why i had to use my own pub key :) [12:11] gotta jet, bbl [12:11] thx [12:11] * up_the_irons heads to the chiropractor [12:15] *** anisfarhana has quit IRC (Quit: fml) [13:08] *** Webhostbudd has joined #arpnetworks [13:31] *** FireTalon has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [13:31] *** jpalmer has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 252 seconds) [13:31] *** FireTalon has joined #arpnetworks [13:36] *** jpalmer has joined #arpnetworks [14:33] *** HighJinx has joined #arpnetworks [14:37] *** Ehtyar has joined #arpnetworks [17:53] *** dzup has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 276 seconds) [17:58] toddf_: just replied to your QinQ ticket [17:58] i think it'll work now [18:24] QinQ has a different ethertype than what we usually let pass through the hosts. i've added 0x88a8 to the list :) [18:41] *** dferris_ has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [18:42] *** dferris has joined #arpnetworks [19:33] *** ben1 has joined #arpnetworks [19:34] *** `ariel_ has joined #arpnetworks [19:39] *** alexstanford19 has quit IRC (*.net *.split) [19:39] *** `ariel has quit IRC (*.net *.split) [19:39] *** mercutio has quit IRC (*.net *.split) [20:02] *** alexstanford19 has joined #arpnetworks [20:15] *** ben1 is now known as mercutio [20:19] *** Ehtyar has quit IRC (Quit: Going!)
