I got my kernel down to 3.5M frmo 8.6M just by gutting out needless crap avm 40992 free 119108 I'll never forget the first time I compiled a kernel. 1994. somehow I thought ppp was just enabled, didn't think it was under networking, gutted a lot of needless crap, and was surprised ppp didn't work on reboot ;-) ha yep! of course now I haven't used PPP since at least 2007 What kernel? caze: loonix of course, back then it was slackware or worse as options ;-) hmm is anyone having v6 connectivity issues at present? I can reach my vps'en via v4 but not via v6 (coming from a he.net tunnel) oh bother, maybe its my tunnel host or something, I can't even ping6 google from home over the he.net tunnel looks like chroot home dirs (on a backup server) with "root-like" ability to preserve permissions, etc... is not gonna be feasible (i think i know how it *could* work, but is more trouble than it is worth) so saving file attributes will simply require tar, rdiff-backup, etc... Fine by me the ARP Metal servers look tempting heh sold half of them Nice! don't hesitate! ;)
