up_the_ironsjlgaddis: the choice of PowerDNS was to be able to programmatically update records / zones / anything. It fits this purpose. I haven't tested performance, but it is not causing any headaches at the moment. It is also stable, don't think it has ever crashed. [04:30]
LT+1 for powerdns... though nsd is also pretty nice [04:32]

up_the_ironsyeah i like nsd too [04:37]

LTkeep meaning to play with the dnssec stuff in powerdns - looks really simple compared to everything else [04:44]

jlgaddisup_the_irons: Yeah, pretty much the same reason i'm looking at it. If I asked any of my co-workers to add/update/delete an RR right now (using BIND), they'd be lost. [05:24]
up_the_ironsyep [05:24]
jlgaddisup_the_irons: At least w/ PowerDNS, I could set up one of the existing web front-ends to it or just create my own. [05:24]
up_the_ironsright [05:24]
jlgaddisI *could* hack up a web front-end to do the same, then send dynamic DNS updates directly to BIND but, meh, that sounds dirty. [05:25]

sramovhello, could someone give me a hand with IPv6 on OpenBSD 5.2?
this is what I have: https://gist.github.com/4656583
DNS is sorted out, but I can't seem to get nginx & nsd to answer via V6
I am able to ping IPv6 addresses from the VPS
hut.ramov.com is the hostname for both the primary nsd master and nginx is listening there too
[07:45]
jlgaddislisten 80 default; ## listen for ipv4
listen [::]:80 default ipv6only=on; ## listen for ipv6
that's pretty much all of ipv6 config for nginx
[08:01]
sramovhave you seen the gist I've posted? [08:03]

I'm 99.999999% sure the sun will cease to exist by that point
heck, maybe even the entire universe will have cooled
granted, the ipv6 space is also super sparse
so i doubt that estimate is anywhere near correct
[12:51]
milkinah, its gonna flatline when we switch off of ip
Webhostbudd: theres a link on the calculation
[12:53]
Webhostbuddagain
that's only if we can saturate ipv6

up_the_ironsjlgaddis: i actually have bind as a front for PowerDNS. I didn't like the idea of my authoritative DNS being dependent on MySQL, but at this point that is probably just empty paranoia [14:48]
