and then get confused by the command line parameters

I'm not sure if "LSI BIOS" is the right term for what I was referring to, BTW.  I meant the tool that's available when you first boot the system up... it shows the logical drives, etc., and gives you the option of hitting CTRL-A to boot into... whatever the app is called.
