wonder how much of it was a split
my vps were off the network until the same time everyone started reconnecting
guessed people were ircing from their arp hosts and connections reset
handful of these as connection to my vps came back up: (2:07:06 AM) [FBI] left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 264 seconds).
i noticed it was down, joined irc, and it popped back up, only caught 1-2 mins of it and not sure if it was much longer than that

finally upgraded/rebooted my arp vps

at the boot> prompt type -c
then "disable mpbios" when it drops you to the blue prompt
then "quit"
once it's up do "config -e -f /bsd"
and do the same to make it stick
hmmm indeed there was an interruption last night. Smokeping shows ipv4 uninterrupted, but ipv6 dropped for about 20 minutes. 1:30-1:55am (Los Angeles time)
that is what nagios shows as well
my home win7 box is ipv4 only and lost http and xmpp connections in the mess
but i don't know if that was more than 2-3 minutes

there's been a pretty consistent odd traffic flow every few days, kicks out ipv6 b/c of a flood
i need to implement some kind of rate limiting
