niner has joined #arpnetworks niner: so, I was tempted to get a 2nd vps to act as a db backend for web stuff. anyone have any thoughts on the practicality of this? mercutio: well two single points of failure
but other than that, you just need db to listen to external ip
and allow permissions from your normal host niner: it's not critical per se
it's more Practical Experience to Mess Around With pending cert exam
since i don't get to mess around too much at work mercutio: well sure then :)
i haven't exactly had lots of outages anyway it's just something to keep in mind niner: they're gonna pay for me to take the RHCSA/CE classes. but I have to pay for the exam upfront, they only reimburse if I pass
So, practiciing in every way I can. mercutio: i have no idea what that is
is it like mcse? niner: it's the red hat certification. everyone i work with has said just practice with centos
bosses like people with certs, they'll pay for it.... if we pass it. and it gets me more $$. so worth a shot. ***: niner has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving)

mercutio: red hat cert exams are "performance based" as opposed to clicky clicky multiple choice mercutio: what kind of things is it? like how to install packages? ***: muddz_ has joined #arpnetworks jlgaddis: yeah, you're actually performing tasks on a (virtual) rhel box. not just answering questions or doing those retarded simulations. ***: muddz has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 264 seconds) milki: that sounds much more fun ***: mnathani has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
