dr_jkl: back to configuring this box up_the_irons: lol ***: Ehtyar has quit IRC (Quit: Never look down on someone unless you're helping them up.) up_the_irons: how's everyone doing this fine Wednesday morning? :) -: up_the_irons is about to create a VM and apply for the NLNOG RING
dr_jkl is having some kind of spiritual crisis Lucifer7: worried you missed a pair? up_the_irons: ha dr_jkl: lol
no i just
i turn 28 on this coming mondnay so existential thoughts have been on my mind a lot up_the_irons: dr_jkl: wait til u turn 30
that's when you have to admit your youth is gone dr_jkl: heh
i have cerebral palsy; i haven't felt youthful since i was 26 up_the_irons: ouch :( jlgaddis: nlnog ring. interesting.
ubuntu 12.04, though? meh. up_the_irons: jlgaddis: yeah, only ubuntu 12.04
jlgaddis: that delayed me like 3 months from joining... ;) (i wanted to have official 12.04 templates going before i created a new VM with it) jlgaddis: we just pay someone to host a vps offsite for us so i have visibility from well outside our network =)
Arista Networks this week lowered the latency and upped the software programmability of its switches with the introduction of the Arista 7150S series.
Based on the Intel/Fulcrum Alta chipset, the 7150S offers latency of 350 nanoseconds, roughly 30% better than the 7124 series rolled out last year.
nice. too bad cisco's gonna blow that outta the water this morning. up_the_irons: lol
jlgaddis: cisco introducing something new today?
yes, please: https://twitter.com/atratoip/status/152004242851368960/photo/1
i'll take 2
a little hard to see, but if you click and make the image bigger, "100 GigE" appears -: jlgaddis nods jlgaddis: saw some of those last week =) up_the_irons: too hot to handle -: up_the_irons is configuring an old skool Foundry FastIron FWSX448 mercutio: maayyyybe 100gig would bring down 10gig pricing up_the_irons: i must say, for $500, you can't get a more robust switch (all 48 port GigE, 4K VLANs, and redundant hot swap PS), NUTS jlgaddis: but it doesn't have "cisco algorithm boost technology"! up_the_irons: it has higher mpps than my cisco ;) jlgaddis: 190 ns latency? ;) up_the_irons: dunno about that... jlgaddis: 48x10GbE line-rate in 1RU? ;) up_the_irons: jlgaddis: yes please
jlgaddis: pics? :) jlgaddis: writing up an article now
just managed to squeeze in "over 9,000" with a link to urban dictionary =) mercutio: jlg: for $500? jlgaddis: i highly doubt it =) mercutio: i want more than gigabit for lan
without costing huge amounts
lacp doesn't so smb/cifs at more than gigabit
for single connection
and i can't see 10 gigabit coming to desktops soon jlgaddis: nothing does anything at more than 1 gbps for a single connection mercutio: well 10 gigabit can?
but it's like $500 for a card jlgaddis: well, i meant with "n" x 1Gbps links in a bundle, of course
a single connection is never gonna exceed the speed of one link
up_the_irons: http://evilrouters.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/cisco-nexus-3548-algo-boost-technology.png up_the_irons: jlgaddis: so that's 10 gige on every port? jlgaddis: yep ***: Ehtyar has joined #arpnetworks

toddf, I have already the vm system's but probrably I can not reach in them VPN
toddf, was looking for a solution and I tought to VPS
toddf, I have the cacti monitoring, asterisk server, confluence, smokeping
and 768 mb of ram and the 20 gb of HD are few toddf: if you want to setup a VPN just load the software same as if you'd do it on a physical system
you can upgrade or add more piecemeal if you want more of something that is cheaper to add than going to the next level up k3asd`: I can not afford a higher price of 20 $ per month toddf: then if you need more resources you might re-evaluate your financial situation. I doubt you'll find more for the same price elsewhere. or I'd be surprised anyway.
note this is $20 USD not 20 in some other currency. k3asd`: toddf: yes, I know :) ***: Guest50002 is now known as pjs fink: have you guys seen http://www.kimsufi.co.uk/ks/ ? jdoe: the seedbox network? woo :P fink: jdoe: is it?
didn't know plett: fink: Kimsufi is the budget brand of OVH, who are already a "pile it high and sell it cheap" operator. You generally get what you pay for fink: ok plett: When you can pay GBP3.99 for a VPS with 1TB/month of data transfer, they only attract people who want vast amounts of bandwidth but don't want to pay for it - which are typically torrenters etc jdoe: kimsufi and ovh are also overrun with seedboxes :P ***: fink has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 255 seconds)
