i've never liked ubuntu/debian's update system
you update 8 megabytes plus of files
so that you can install a 300k package
which has got a minor fix
i think they need some kind of delta system or something
but i've been using debian since i wsa on dialup
and it's always had huge package archives and bizzare updates
they've started using deltas recently
and ubuntu just uses a lot of debian packages
