hello, anyone who have ipv6 on the vps. are you able to do rdns on your ipv6 range?
how can it be done?  can it be done by setting up ns servers and have ns servers do rdns right?
Mouse103: that is an option. you can also set ptr-records via the portal if you don't want to run your own ns servers

On FreeBSD 8.1 I can't seem to find my /etc/pw.config. Anyone know where it is?

wrong filename probably but I got it right while searching.
For use with the pw command
man pw  might have the filename in it.
I've been there and it says something like that is the default place unless -C is specified.
/etc/pw.conf is what it says, but I don't have one either.
so I wonder how the command can work
without that file somewhere

my system was 8.3, which has a later version of ifs (28)
the dvd available from arpnetworks was 8.0; so of course, the utilities on the dvd can't work with zfs28
in retrospect, i should have asked for the latest dvd before starting

I want to use pw on the next upgrade I set up and avoid the disaster of the last setup. I can't use pw if it's broken.

so after upgrading my zfspools and expanding to use the entire disk, it appears that gparts boot code command fuxxored my /boot/loader.conf

unfortunately, trying to echo the proper settings into loader.conf from the fixit command line gave me a corrupted file, so i had to entire everything by hand over vnc at the boot prompt

well,  I think you have your answer regardless.  there is no pw.conf by default.  if you want one for whatever reason (that you've yet to explain)   feel free to make one
