I just yelled at some lady on the phone at PayPal
I threatened to call my lawyer, talk to the DA, contact the BBB
I bet my account gets flagged or something now, and I'll have to wait even longer for my money to be released. The money in question? A REFUND FROM WOOT.COM.
Who puts a hold on a REFUND? kraigu: refunds are common in fraud cases
I believe, anyway... I've certainly seen it a couple of times. phlux: Well, regardless, I'll be leaving paypal after this incident is cleared up.
I feel bad for the woman on the other end of the phone, though
I apologized to her at the end
I tried to keep my cool until she started reading from her script
Once she started feeding me the exact same BS the other guy did on Monday (word for word) I lost it. mike-burns: Leaving PayPal for what? phlux: Google Checkout, I guess.
I'm figuring if I don't trust you with my CC information, and you don't accept Google Checkout, you just won't get my business.
and I'll write e-mails stating as such, in hopes to get businesses to accept more payment methods. kraigu: ya, fair enough mike-burns: Good luck.
I recently worked on a payment method (a client app), so throw LevelUp into the mix if you want.
I can confirm that they are very paranoid. phlux: LevelUp eh
Interesting - I've not heard of them mike-burns: It's a crowded market, but they're big in Boston and growing in SF and NYC. No EU presence.
They have some fancy 0-clicks online purchase system that they demo'ed at that technology/art conference in Austin. ***: ziyourenxiang has joined #arpnetworks

Just to a stock deb6 mike-burns: Email support@ . segv: roger
and or do you guys support the latest LTS? mike-burns: http://goo.gl/D7Cqd - approximately: just as much as anything else. segv: good deal mike-burns: If you link to an ISO in your support request, they can put that ISO in. segv: already done, cool
yeah, had freebsd 9 on my fiances business site, just getting sick of maintaining ports :)
Felt like back in the good ole gentoo days writing patches for #love-sources (now defunct) mike-burns: Sure, I can see that.
OpenBSD's pkg_add is really nice in that regard. segv: yeah
I mean you can pkg_add -r in freebsd as well.
Just, half the time specific packages or modules are non-existant.
So when you have a mix of binary packages and ports rebuilds, things get hectic and break during updates. RandalSchwartz: packages are what you use before you realize how messed up they are. :) segv: yep
then it takes 5 hours to update your install

I don't have any shirts
up_the_irons kept saying I'd get one for every referral.. I'm a few deep now ;)
and mostly I'm just giving him shit
great service at a fair price is my reward
</commercial> jdoe: no I get it, I just wanted to riff on the horror of those shirts :P pjs: hah
since IPv6 was brought up.. any good tutorials on getting IPv6 wise? I'm so clueless there jdoe: if you just want the basics, HE has a ton of stuff (... and when you finish their quizzes/tests, you get the previously mentioned shirt)
(... eventually.) kraigu: jdoe: have you even taken yours off since you got it? jdoe: it started getting a bit ratty, so I fashioned it into a crude set of underwear and just kept right on truckin' kraigu: good man pjs: HE? dr_jkl: hurricane electric

thx dr_jkl: wait you get a shirt

so i compiled a static version of vim... but it's still looking for things lke share/vim/syntax/syntax.vim wherever my /prefix was on the server i built it on. is there any way around that?
err --prefix ***: HighJinx has joined #arpnetworks
HighJinx has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 244 seconds)
HighJinx has joined #arpnetworks up_the_irons: dr_jkl: iirc, --prefix will be the "base" dir for _everything_, even things in share; but there might be a --sharepath, or similar, option. see ./configure --help dr_jkl: there isn't, sadly.. -: dr_jkl looks again dr_jkl: well, there's --datarootdir
which *should* do what i want, but i don't know how to say 'in the same folder as the binary, without being recursive' up_the_irons: hmm.. dunno
dr_jkl: did you get vnc working, btw? dr_jkl: i did
i got your email and was like "....really? derp." up_the_irons: haha
cool dr_jkl: because i should have tried that, but i didn't make a connection between the host and the vnc port up_the_irons: yeah, i wouldn't imagine anyone would, unless they knew how kvm/qemu worked dr_jkl: my freebsd 8-something install was like "i don't have this lib you need to make vim and it's not in the freaking ports tree" so i was like let's try an upgrade
