another AWS outage http://www.geekwire.com/2012/power-loss-knocks-amazon-web-services-offline-web-sites/ why doesn't amazon.com go down if there is an AWS outage? someone doesn't eat their own dog food........ holy.crap. SuperMicro new FatTwin: http://64.174.237.182/products/nfo/FatTwin.cfm whois 213.129.116.0/22 i need some ascii art like that on my WHOIS Amazon famously doesn't dogfood. http://tinyurl.com/3zrx8fg - gets mentioned in Steve Yegge's rant. hah that is an awesome post its got technical details its got opinion its got humor its got flwo its got lessons to learn its got vision It also has mystique, as it was supposed to be private but was accidentally leaked! haha How is the AMD Opteron 6140 (2.6 GHz) so much more expensive than the newer 6212 at the same clock speed and yet the 6212 seems to also have better specs all around? this is a steal for 8 cores: http://www.provantage.com/amd-os6212wkt8ggu~7AAMD2NM.htm i might have to build an AMD box in the lab... Sorry, the post you are trying to share no longer exists. i cant reshare the post -.- who came up with this dogfood meme. who wants to eat dog food? i'll eat my own pad thai. usually that's the point :P i'll take the pad thai also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eating_your_own_dog_food#Origin pretty weak origin well, if it's delicious, of course everybody will want to nom it anyway. but there's a sum total of 0 software packages where if they were food I'd go I MUST GOBBLE THAT WITH MY MOUTH RIGHT NOW up_the_irons: you're up kind of early, aren't you? or have you just not gone to bed yet? kraigu: i semi-slept already, but i'll be going for round 2 soon i almost want this just for the ridiculous heat sink: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51sI4BwGjJL._SL500_AA300_.jpg looks like a radiator LOL haha. my Endace DAG has a heatsink like that. i specifically got one of those ridiculous giant heatsinks for overclockers, just so that i wouldn't have to turn on the fan, for my htpc box you should have just gotten a low power chip to begin with, and let the gpu do all the work :P that might require then having a GPU with a giant fan. (or was that the joke) might, I guess, though there are plenty of examples of passive gpus beefy enough to decode 1080p. I have no idea anymore. I just remember having difficulty looking for silent GPU I used to have a passive nvidia 8400gs... it was pretty miserable for almost everything, but I *think* it will do vdpau. ion/ion2 are fanless. or at least, can be. i love my fanless gt 210's http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/EN210_SILENTDI1GD3V2LP/ pretty cheap too jdoe: it's also used for web browsing and stuff, so the core 2 duo met minimum reqs for that so would an atom ;) jdoe: it's used by my kids to play flash games
