jpalmer: I went through the same thing after back surgery. I'm in the USCG, and I had to lose 30 pounds in 6 months. Back down to basic training weight these days :)
when I win the lotto, I'm going to find a way to automate my personal fitness.  lol

i was able to lose like 20 lbs...  kept most of it off since.  i want to build my distance running in the next 6 months and see if i can pull off a half  marathon
I think I'll take small steps.  hit the gym cycles, to drop weight.  THEN take up running when I'm not abusing the hell out of my knees.
is the copy of /etc/ttys on a new fbsd 8.2 VM modified in any significant way from stock?
my wife just did a 6.3 mile mud run last saturday.  thats kinda what piqued my interest.

will changing the enabled virtual consoles from 'cons25' to 'xterm' break any of the KVM or admin stuff you have set up? it looks like this change was made in the default ttys file between 8 and 9

I didn't have to force it at all
I've been using screen via mosh, which forces UTF-8, haven't had any issues

I've been pretty impressed with mosh in general
I'd rather replace screen with a local weechat client using a relay.
But I definitely don't have time to write such a thing.
There are plenty of IRC proxies out there, I used to use dircproxy

phlux: I've never had that problem. You could try setting the default encoding to utf8 (ie in screenrc, not on the command line)
I've done that, and I still have to set it manually every time.
