up_the_ironsqbit_: looks like it was an isolated incident (reason unknown), b/c i was unable to reproduce it and other customers were able to upgrade to 5.1 without issue. On openbsd-misc ML, there were some that had problems, but last I read, the commit causing the issue was found (and yet, the issue doesn't appear for more ppl) [13:18]
qbit_yeah - i just updated mine with no problem [13:20]

CaZeqbit_: No, I bought it. [19:21]
qbit_ohsnap - maybe i am remembering a diff link.. this was one that some dudes put together [19:22]
CaZeOrphan Espresso? [19:23]
qbit_might have been
was a long time ago :P
[19:29]
CaZehttp://www.orphanespresso.com/OE-Pharos-Hand-Coffee-Grinder_c_392.html [19:30]
qbit_yes!
you bought one?
is it awesome?
[19:32]
CaZeYeah, but the grind catching funnel is kind weird.
Also, aligning the burrs takes some getting used to.
They have a portable version now that's cheaper.
http://www.orphanespresso.com/OE-LIDO-Hand-Coffee-Grinder_p_4682.html
[19:33]
qbit_oh nice [19:34]
CaZeI'd get the second one if you're not doing much espresso. [19:37]
qbit_what do you think of the Rancilio Rocky? [19:46]
CaZeNever used it.
I prefer manual machines though.
[19:53]
.... (idle for 19mn)
qbit_any particular reason youlike manual over powered? [20:12]
CaZeI think powered anything is simply overkill for making a single serving of coffee.
It adds to the cost, and makes repairs more expensive.
[20:21]
qbit_makes sense [20:28]
CaZeAnd powered grinders are loud. [20:30]
qbit_what espresso machine do you have? [20:36]
CaZeLa Pavoni Europiccola. [20:42]
qbit_awesome [20:43]
do you filter your water? [20:50]
CaZeI distill my water.
I already use distiled water for making my own seltzer, so I always just have it around.
[20:51]
qbit_cool
have you ever made tonic water?
[20:53]
CaZeAlso, I have a CO2 tank for making seltzer, which I also use for flushing the air out of my jars of green coffee.
No.
[20:53]
jpalmergit cherry-pick is pure sex. git submodules are.. not so much. [20:54]
qbit_nice - i have a CO2 tank for homebrew [20:54]
jpalmerjpalmer has a saltwater tank. I don't drink the stuff. :) [20:54]
qbit_heh
CaZe: is there a big diff between using distiled and filtered?
jpalmer: i like modules.. just not removing them :P
[20:54]
CaZeYou mean in terms of taste?
Or quantified in terms of total dissolved solids?
My filtered tap water comes out at around 80 ppm.
Distilled water is 0 ppm.
[20:56]
jpalmerqbit_: depends on the source, and the filtration. as an example.. my well has 1050 TDS. after my RO, it's around 89 TDS. after my DI canisters.. 0 TDS [20:57]
CaZeI've never really bothered to try and taste the difference though. [20:57]
qbit_heh
k
[20:58]
CaZeUsing distilled water also mean that you never have to descale the boiler. [20:58]
qbit_i mean in taste
that's nice
[20:58]
CaZeI can taste the difference in seltzer though.
Carbonated filtered water tastes like ass compared to carbonated distilled water.
[20:58]
qbit_do you make the distilled water yourself? [20:59]
CaZeYes.
I have a distilling unit.
It works out to about $0.60 of electricity per gallon to run.
I still use filtered water though, for cooking.
I only use distilled water where I can perceive a difference.
Or if I want to avoid things like having to descale boilers.
[20:59]
qbit_cool
jpalmer: what does TDS mean?
[21:01]
jpalmertotald dissolved solids [21:02]
qbit_ah
so your well has 1050 tds per ?
[21:02]
jpalmerqbit_: for refrence: TDS over 500 ppm, is considered unfit for human consumption by the US govt.
1050 ppm
[21:02]
qbit_k
:D
[21:04]
CaZeYou can get a meter that tells you your TDS.
There's a water filter that comes with one for free.
One of those pitcher types.
http://www.zerowater.com/
That's actually what I have.
[21:04]
jpalmerhttp://www.airwaterice.com/product/HMTDS3/TDS3-Meter-with-Carrying-Case.html <-- my TDS meter [21:05]
CaZeFunny thing is, it still reads 0 ppm after a few dozen gallons on a single filter. [21:05]
jpalmerCaZe: what kind of filtration, RO? [21:06]
CaZeIon exchange.
But even at 0 ppm, it tastes off, compared to distilled water.
[21:06]
jpalmerI'm assuming it has a DI crtridge you can replace? or DI resin you can refill it with? [21:07]
CaZeReplaceable cartridges.
They're pretty big.
[21:08]
jpalmerahh [21:08]
CaZeCompared to the size of the pitcher, that is. [21:08]
jpalmerthis is what I have: http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1TYPHOONIII/TYPHOON-III-AQUARIUM-RODI-75-or-100-GPD.html [21:08]
CaZeIt's probably like four times the size of a Brita filter. [21:08]
jpalmeryeah. DI needs a long contact time. [21:09]
qbit_my parents just got a craaaazy reverse osmosis filter contraption [21:09]
CaZeStill, I prefer distilled.
I only go through about 1/4 gallon per day, so the poor economics of making distilled water don't matter that much.
[21:10]
jpalmermine serves a dual purpose. drinking water for the sink faucet, drinking water for the water and ice dispenser in the fridge, and I have six 32 gallon brute containers that I keep full. [21:11]
CaZeFor when the well runs dry? [21:12]
qbit_heh [21:12]
jpalmerno, for the reef aquariums [21:12]
qbit_whoa cool [21:13]
jpalmerI keep 3 barrels of fresh DI water, and 3 barrels of slatwater mixed, circulated and temperature controlled for when I do my weekly water changes.
keeps the corals and fish happy :P
[21:13]
CaZeWhy do you use DI? [21:14]
jpalmerto prevent algae blooms, and other side-effects [21:15]
qbit_zerowater says the TDS in my area is 158 [21:18]
jpalmerlol
I don't think I'd trust that.
I just put in my zipcode. no results. so I added mine. I couldn't put in a 4 digit number, so I put in 999.
then when I seached my zipcode again, it said 460. so I searched again, now it said 218
