I'm finally using Firefox 12... Was on 3.6 forever, since I never updated my Ubuntu 10.04 laptop. I feel, more, enlightened... yay HTML5 features loool well done :-) That just means that more things make noises and fly around your screen. mike-burns: pretty much :) actually... rounded corners too! did i really just have to use 'ed' to edit a file in OpenBSD after running bsd.rd? "bsd.rd also includes a healthy set of utilities to allow you to do system maintenance and installation." umm... what set of utilities? Got a problem with ed?! yeah, yeah, i see the usual disk / partition stuff... but what about editing just a single file?! well, ya learn something new every day, so i won't complain... ,g/foo/bar/ q ? h (oh that's why '?' is) w q no wonder ppl think we're weird screw these hipster hackathons with their latte's... someone needs to set one up where all you can use is ed! let's see them code some shit now... ;) The first talk I gave at the Boston Vim meetup was on ed. I went through all the commands and some etymology. My favorite is g/regexp/p - globally print lines matching a regexp. g/re/p for short. yeh I still have never figured out ed its hardcore I thought I was a boss when I figured out vi then I discovered ed and felt crap. :-( True fact: I started re-writing ed in Haskell. Didn't finish it, and I used vim. lol My first order of business on any new machine, verify vi or vim is installed via puppet. (ie, my *real* first order of business, is to setup puppet) I remember a while back when my box was setup by up_in_irons - I had to have him setup something to make my ip match my hostname (he did something, i don't think it was a PTR). Anyone know what that was that he did? I'm running into that w/ a different machine it had to do w/ emails bouncing because of something w/ the ip not matching the host that is why a PTR record came to mind, but he corrected me and said it was something else that he had to do on his end up_the_irons: at least the full set of utilities was not comprised by "dd" the boston vim meetup!? holy shit, you have some hardcore people in boston if you all get together to discuss a fucking *editor*! heh up_the_irons : u on the diablo 3 bandwagon? jlgaddis: Well, we had me in Boston. I'm starting the Stockholm Vim meetup in a few months (hopefully).
