I've noticed my new FBSD VPS is not using VirtIO, which is okay, but I'm wondering if I can submit a ticket to get it swapped, once I upgrade to FBSD 9.0? any staff around? swaj: i was unaware that FreeBSD even had virtio drivers... Mumble Hosting, eh? Looks cool... yeah working on it :) up_the_irons: for the record, the virtio drivers are in ports. /usr/ports/emulation/virtio-kmod you just need the sources installed, but you don't have to rebuild the whole kernel holy shit ya learn something new every day... hehe swaj: are they new in 9, or have they always been there? they were there in 8.2 I think but I've only used them under 9 interesting yeah I might do some perf tests if you don't mind toggling stuff once I get the base system installed we can see how it does :) sure, np on my local proxmox-VE box virtio does a little better ah I dig the SSH console :) good stuff I forgot to write down the arpnetworks resolvers before I reformatted this thing. Do you guys have a DNS resolver I could use? http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/main/dns-servers hoho, thanks :) virtio does a lot better. :/ so far the performance extracting the installation files was pretty terrible I'm anxious to get virtio turned on :) took approx 1 hour to do a standard install of FBSD 9 up_the_irons: running bonnie++ right now. after it's done, are you available to swap me to virtio? up_the_irons: bonnie++ is done, updated the ticket too. If you could swap me to VirtIO I'd love it. Wanna see how the benchmarks compare :) hmm
