[14:45] yep :) [15:08] Okie dokie, I was just going to ask about a custom VPS plan - 768MB RAM, 200GB Bandwidth, 40GB Storage... Also wondering if there are discounts for paying quarterly, annualy etc. [15:31] *** tubgoat has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection) [15:34] *** tubgoat has joined #arpnetworks [16:11] *** niner has joined #arpnetworks [16:13] *** tubgoat has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 276 seconds) [16:15] *** tubgoat has joined #arpnetworks [16:50] *** niner has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) [16:59] Tabmow: there are discounts for paying in advance. as for custom plans, email them. I'll get you a link to the discount [16:59] Tabmow: http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/billing/is-there-a-discount-for-paying-in-advance [17:02] Yeah I subsequently found that link... and have already submitted a form via their website for a custom plan [17:02] jpalmer: How have you found them? I am assuming you have a VPS? [17:47] Tabmow, since switching to them about 8 months ago, I've been more than happy with the service [17:47] tabmow, and not only that.. but I cut like $100/mo off my cost for the same services at Rackspace. [17:49] I do wish we could backup or restore images on the fly, but that's still a little ways away from what up_the_irons has said [17:49] Cool... I really need to replace a dedicated server I have which I am paying around $40/month for depending on the exchange rate... arpnetworks or nqhost are looking good so far [17:52] Yea, ARP is great man [17:53] Plus they offer FreeBSD.. which is a HUGE plus for me [17:56] been on arp for about a year I think, no problems and have two VPSs for 1/2 the price of my previous one leased server. plus the VPSs have much better IO performance (although smaller storage) [18:06] Yeah that was the reason I chose a dedicated servers a few years back, no-one was really doing freebsd vps's back then. [18:55] *** HighJinx has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 252 seconds) [19:04] Tabmow: I'm really impressed with them. better disk IO than a lot of much-higher-priced vps's. [19:05] Tabmow: arp is awesome, IF you don't need support often. If you are self sufficient, and can maintain your vps instance.. they are hard to beat. [19:06] Tabmow: but to be blunt, if you are someone who needs support regularly, and need a pretty immediate response.. arp may not be for you. [19:15] jpalmer: it looks like their management console does everything I need... [19:16] It's pretty common for people to drop in here complaining about the support turn around time, which is clearly stated on ARP's site... (which is why jpalmer mentioned it) [19:34] No problems, I am fairly self sufficient... unless the issue is out of my hands obviously [19:44] Tabmow: the only things I've ever needed support for, was to change the ISO media mounted into the vps. even reinstalling the OS from the CD, is pretty straightforward. since you're self-sufficient, I think you'll be happy. [19:44] jpalmer: great, thanks. I really want to test the performance of it before. [23:46] we don't have trial accounts, but I doubt you will be unhappy with the performance [23:46] and if you are, there's a 30 day refund policy [23:52] up_the_irons: ok thanks, but I'm located in germany, so I'm not sure if the latency is too big etc. A test would be pretty useful to find it out ;-)
