the problem is that maria installs like it's mysql
so both of them share the same paths
and debian can't do that
but fedora is just fine with it
and there's a freebsd port already

heh... one of the incompatibilities: Timings may be different as MariaDB is in many cases faster than MySQL.

what format does the "New DNS Record" thing expect for "IP / Name:"? It does tell me "Name has bad format, Name is not within your IP range"
pyro-: it's simply the last number of the IP address (the rest is already filled in)
pyro-: for IPv6, you have to add all the IPv6 zeros (and there is a checkbox that does it automatically for you)

Did /usr/ports/x11/xorg last night on my FreeBSD shell here last night. Took a few hours, froze once, but I have the xclock running. Thanks to ARP networks.

Well screen is hard to configure.
ok will check out wiki.
tmux has far more config options, but most of the defaults are sane.
my .tmux.rc is still only about 10 lines
the first three things I install on every new freebsd box: portmaster, tmux, and zsh
and then I launch my tmux session for *everything else*

contrl -a \ gets me out of screen kill all windows
^\ d for me is detach
I exit by going to each window and exiting that specifically
then it auto exits
or I just close my window at this end, and it auto-detaches
tmux supports external scripting
all the internal commands can be run with "tmux command..." in a shell
so you can get pretty crazy
I actually enjoyed watching the screen text roll by last night.
So much of it
so many little hitches that don't seem to matter.
I noticed a lot of visits to tld .hk
x.org didn't field many requests.
