So I supposedly have the bsd 4.9 disk mounted, but when I boot, then connect to console I get nothing. I had to set it to use the serial port when I booted on the actual box before I messed up the install, do I have to do something special with the cd so I can install over ssh? well, over the terminal rather. incase sorreson checks backlog on the web, 'set tty com0' at the boot> prompt via vnc will do the job he can't use vnc. He's blind. ssh -f geraldkoenig ssh -f geraldkoenig@console.cust.arpnetworks.com L 5955:kvr03.arpnetworks.com:5905 -N This puts me into a continuous scroll of the menu. Is this normal? This is the tunnel set up for ssh to vnc dash L sorry I could not copy and paste this incantation as instructed but I typed it several times with the same result: a scrolling ssh menu. So step 2 isn't working ie start up "chicken" the vnc with localhost and port specified. I ssh from a bash prompt on osx. Will check back later for comments. I got the scrolling menu thing a while back, too Dunno about chicken not working... localhost:5955, I don't think I give anything for display, password is what it is O: Hello boba, I missed your comment you said it happened to you too? Yeah let me try it real quick great no hurry Yup, massive scroll in the terminal I do the port forwarding ssh in so is the forwarding working anyway? I guess you have to get out of the first session, THEN port forward netstat -anf inet to verify it's listening on 5955 you then log out of the ssh session entirely and go to a vnc client? No q to get out of the console with the menu Then ssh -f u@h -L port:blah:port -N It will then return you to the prompt. Then do netstat -anf inet to check that it's listening on 5955 You should see a line that looks like thsi: tcp4 0 0 127.0.0.1.5955 *.* LISTEN Once you verify that that's working, then vnc in It's amazing to me that you figured this out. I'll see if I can do it and let you know. hey RandalSchwartz and wallshot whats a scrolling ssh menu o.O hey an ssh menu that scrolls? ssh has menus? not the command-line version but ssh can apply to many things i'll try the blowfish today ...that is still on the menu for today, right? :p o.O hm...i should change my bill schedule theres discounts for paying for multiple months at once right? o hey its in the knowledge base lol, this order form doesn't say what im ordering o.O you're ordering "one with everything... to go"
