lister_what are you sposed to set your gateway and nameserver to for the vps?

[03:08]
antlister_: for gateway c.f. http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/vps/example-etcnetworkinterfaces-for-debian-and-ubuntu

djmdhi guys i have a question, i use openbsd in vps but i like slackware linux also which use? [18:40]
nesteawhichever one you prefer [18:41]
djmdboth
i like bsd for the features but is slowly
[18:41]
***HighJinx has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds) [18:42]
druedjmd, freebsd, best of both worlds :) [18:45]
djmdactually you use on vps, desktop, server? [18:46]
DDevinedjmd: Arp let you load whever you like. You're not restricted on what they have on their order page. [18:47]
djmdyes i know [18:47]
DDevinedjmd: Use whatever you know how to maintain.
I like to use CentOS/Scientific Linux on my servers, occasionally Debian when I need to be really memory conscious.
I use Fedora and Arch on my desktops.
[18:48]
gamarcoobsd on servers, desktops, laptops, and soon, car [18:50]
djmdwhat you like of obsd gamarco? [18:51]
gamarcoit makes the most sense. documentation [18:51]
DDevineI've dabbled in FreeBSD. It's OK but at then end of the day I rather just use Linux. I though the FreeBSD documentation was pretty good. [18:51]
gamarcolinux scares me [18:52]
DDevinegamarco: you don't know how to use it then. [18:52]
gamarcolet me rephrase that
the concept of chkconfig, scares me
[18:52]
DDevineWell that's not Linux, that's distro related. [18:52]
druemy os can totally beat up your os [18:52]
mike-burnsIf you like OpenBSD stick with it. Otherwise, try FreeBSD.
You can switch later.
[18:53]
DDevineArch Linux doesn't use chkconfig. [18:53]
djmdi use linux but at the end of the day back to obsd [18:53]
DDevineEh. Not saying that OBSD is bad. Use whatever you can configure. [18:54]
gamarcoi also like networking done by way of hostname.if(5) [18:54]
DDevinegamarco: Fedora uses a new alternate interface naming scheme. [18:54]
djmdare you tested smp in obsd? [18:55]
gamarcoi don't have any particular need for it djmd, but it works
not as well as fbsd or linux tho
[18:57]
lister_any staff here? i'm still waiting on a response to my ticket, i just reinstalled with correct network info but seems my connection is blocked off at the gateway [18:58]
djmdi saw some parts obsd code, for example mem, i don`t find documentation regarding region memory [19:02]
