Will this syntax from PW(8) man change my username from mango to galaxy? pw usermod mango -n galaxy
pw usermod mango -n galaxy
at root prompt?
try it and find out?  =)

ifthen: there's plenty of folks here who run freebsd, but you might get a quicker response by asking in #freebsd.
Google doesn't tell me about this command. People are using vi to modify the file which is ok

yeah, i've done it before just manually editing files but never using pw.
ssh in, become root, change the username, leave that ssh session open, try to ssh in using the new username.
worst case, if it doesn't work, run `pw` again to change it back.
if it doesn't work, maybe running pw again won't do anything  =)
