People are using vi to modify the file which is ok
Just wondered how people here did it. gamarco: ifthen: looks like yes. i haven't used freebsd in ~12 years though, so grain of salt ifthen: thanks gamarco and jlgaddis. Does a mistake look hazardous to you? jlgaddis: yeah, i've done it before just manually editing files but never using pw.
ssh in, become root, change the username, leave that ssh session open, try to ssh in using the new username.
worst case, if it doesn't work, run `pw` again to change it back. gamarco: if it doesn't work, maybe running pw again won't do anything =) jlgaddis: true ifthen: hmmmmm
Well I guess I'll have to take some chances. jlgaddis: that's the spirit! ifthen: I saw another simple command line command with a pipe in it but I didn't understand the syntax.
