To set a new root password for my new FreeBSD VPS do I invoke "sysinstall" and go to configure and page through the options till I hit "set the root password"? as documented 2.10.13 in the bsd handbook on postinstall?
you could,  sure.  or you could just use the 'passwd' command.

so passwd will let me set root as well as user ?
