_id has joined #arpnetworks RandalSchwartz: DDevine - slashdotting will try to set up lots of normal SYN/ACK initial connections to your port 80. The normal queuing mechanism of the kernel handles those just fine, although your CPU will be overwhelmed and fail many of the connections.
DDoS uses tricks that the network stack can't deal with easily, and at a *far* greater rate than even slashdotting will generate. DDevine: RandalSchwartz: True.
Just migrated all my Mediawiki articles by hand.
Had to copy the html and put it into a markdown generator.
Would have been nicer to go from creole to markdown directly... But RandalSchwartz hasn't written a Perl script for that yet. RandalSchwartz: seems like there would have been an automated way to go

the thing is... the .180 has a /32 netmask
so I can't just remove the .179 with the /29 netmask
