so apparently you don't manage reverse DNS with ARIN's templates anymore (even though they are still in the template :( you do so in their new web-based interface well, at least it's easy now ;) Hey guys... anyone had any issues setting up reverse DNS? I've tried both setting a PTR record directly through the customer portal as well as setting NS records to different DNS servers. ...on the server itself I can reverse the IP just fine but on almost every other machine I've tried it alawys gives me a FORMERR or SERVFAIL reply skate111: you just missed: 11:27:08 @up_the_irons | so apparently you don't manage reverse DNS with ARIN's templates anymore (even though they are still in the template :( │11:27:26 @up_the_irons | you do so in their new web-based interface skate111: there is one /23 of mine that has a wrong delegation :( skate111: so it doesn't point to my servers, but servers of an old customer. I was just able to update that today (I tried last week with ARIN's templates, only to find out you don't do it that way anymore) skate111: so i think in 24 hours, everything should have fully propagated ahh okay :) I was starting to think I was crazy... now it makes sense :) thanks garry np, sorry for the needless hassle I thought it was something I was doing wrong... kept searching all over the 'net and nothing seemed to directly pertain so I figured I'd run it by you/other customers here :) Now I know not to sit there racking my brain and just give it another day or two to propagate yep, nah, i'm sure you were doing it right up_the_irons - can you increase the virtual disk size without copying the data, or do you need to copy the data? I'm just wondering if I can do the same thign here that I did in my vmware test RandalSchwartz: we don't do any copying, just expand the lvm volume; the rest is up to the customer cool neil's 20GB machine overflowed again this morning. :( ouchie yeah, especially when I start getting Nagios SMS while travelling internationally. :) as in, the SMS are flowing, but I can't even log in to fix it, since I don't have any wifi nearby oh man! oh wait... it was the 30G machine, but still yeah i remember running early exchange servers if you filled them up the box was prety much dead I think he wants to just add another 20G to each machine, but I'll verify that with him and put in a request. those were the days.. not c= sigh, that's getting painfully frequent, I should really do something about my fingers. getting some really bad packet loss atm Oh, oh. Packloss anyone lese? Yep. ;-) else* its always funny to see how many people are connecting through their arp vpa vps* Good thing I'm not. Though I finally switched over to a US server. I think I was connected through Lithuania for some reason. I suppose there are network issues going on? it appears so My DNS failover system switched over to backup in no time. Since I can't ssh, and my IRC connections to various networks are pinging out on other networks My ssh is still up. Let's see if I can ping. Very sluggish. It will half-way connect to ssh. Showing "Using username 'galador'", and the "Authenticating with key ____" And then dies Now it died. Hmm. I think I'd better set my system to stay failed and manually switch back. Enough packets get through to cause to flip-flop. bGeorge: why is that funny? hum, someone know, it's normal the last ping time out I got from my vps? It seems to be ok now. part oops Yep it's ok, but trying to figure why, This week I get some packet lost from my vps, trying to figure what's up, generally it's stable. Aside from just now, now problems that I can see on mine. I have a service that pings about once a minute. I'm back! I think Welcome back. dos attack earlier. offending vps shutdown and canceled. sorry for the collateral damage. funny, i looked through all the bandwidt graphs, and i could tell who had failover systems (their traffic went to zero and never came back) (so it switched to some other provider) The problem I had was it switched back when a ping manged to get through. yeah i think i saw those too ;) I need to work on that. BTW, up_the_irons: Have you checkout out Tata Communications (AS6453)? I think they have service in the Wilshire Annex. they do they have a big suite too they tried to sell me bandwidth as well but i already buy too much Heh. up_the_irons: eh, risk of a vps, it happens. They might be a better match than Level3 if you decide to dump gtt. I did some traceroutes from their looking glass and was impressed. o'rly? may check 'em out then Nodes everywhere too. Just saw they now have one in Russia. cool
