novemberico: has anyone run openbsd with smp on these VPSs?
toddf: I've not done it but there should be no issues (let us know how it goes *grin*)
aka qemu with multiple cpus works fine with openbsd, no reason why kvm with multiple cpus would work any different

-: RandalSchwartz is happy to no longer be running openbsd
RandalSchwartz: "freebsd - it's close enough!"
toddf: heh
RandalSchwartz: freebsd = the best of openbsd and solaris!
toddf: freebsd = the security wanna be means the difference between the real thing and the wanna be laves a gaping hole for invasion.
</sarcasm>
RandalSchwartz: "freebsd - we're not as paranoid as Theo, but far more concerned than Linus" :)
***: OutGeek has joined #arpnetworks
toddf: heh
pilgrimd: ++that
freebsd + blowfish password hashes + pf + kernel securelevel + mount options paranoia + chroot jails =~ openbsd
RandalSchwartz: without all the pain. :)
pilgrimd: but freebsd = openbsd + better hardware support
(IMO, anyway)
and there's no real pain to all the additives other than remembering them.
Once they're set up it's pretty simple.
RandalSchwartz: freebsd = openbsd + zfs-as-root + a-lot-more-packages-updated-more-frequently
pilgrimd: that too
RandalSchwartz: + friendlier-user-community
pilgrimd: ok, so freebsd + zfs root + jails + blowfish hashes + pf + securelevel + mount options paranoia + up-to-date packages + useful support = bestest OS evar
RandalSchwartz: (blah blah blah) = freebsd "best os ever" :)
you don't need to add all those things to frebsd
so I'm confused by the math
unless you mean 2 * them :)
pilgrimd: On another network, we have a bot that remembers trivia, it's view of freebsd is: freebsd is love or the red headed step child of unix or paranoid or god in a little cute daemon's suit or going to be Solaris eventually or the ultimate nexus of all OS things nifty or portsnap extract may not complete in my lifetime or there's a sysctl for that or there's a sysctl for that or so much awesome I can't remember it all
RandalSchwartz: is that purl?
purl used to do that
put together all the "is" for a thing
pilgrimd: yeah, it's origins are infobot/purl, I think.
RandalSchwartz: s/it's/its/
pilgrimd: yeah, shame on me for that.
RandalSchwartz: a peeve of mine... using "it's" where you mean "its"
pilgrimd: I work with a guy that mixes all of his homophones
RandalSchwartz: that'd suck
"today we will see you're figures"
pilgrimd: "There here at the desk asking about they're laptop."
RandalSchwartz: ouch
another of mine is people using "myself" but without reflexiveness
"he chose Damon and myself"
crap no he didn't :)
pilgrimd: That doesn't work at all. wtf
RandalSchwartz: yeah - people say it a lot though
pilgrimd: Also, people who say "this is she" when answering the phone.
RandalSchwartz: yeah
jpalmer: "this is she" is supposed to be the correct thing to say, though.
RandalSchwartz: "that's between she and myself"
double violation
jpalmer: when they ask for me, I don't say "this is he" I say "speaking"
RandalSchwartz: "that's between her and I" - also bad
pilgrimd: "There hear asking for they're stuff to be moved over their so them, she and myself can be working on the project."
RandalSchwartz: ouch!
[tilt]
-: pilgrimd added the passive-voice for extra flavour.
RandalSchwartz: "meesa no good!"
pilgrimd: Is muy muy no bueno!
jpalmer: I love when people on IRC complain about grammar, and then say something like "you should learn proper grammer"
RandalSchwartz: "your gramma!"
pilgrimd: Learn you some grammas, son.
jpalmer: my gramma and your gramma? sittin by the fire?
RandalSchwartz: "your in troubl!"
pilgrimd: jpalmer: Only if dey be cons-jew-gatin teh verbs.
RandalSchwartz: ok - time to be sorta outta here...
-: RandalSchwartz wanders off
jpalmer: same
