toddf: proxies are great when DDOS is a potential, put the proxy where DDOS is easier to defend (more bandwidth, more capable staff/network to thwart DDOS) then let your actual data reside on unknown remote hosting centers that are economcial for hosting data not receving DDOS stuff. an interesting technique I read about a few years back.
