... :) all these people with real lives on weekends.. can't trust 'em srsly haha hi all, is there any way of blocking a ip that give a certain message on access.log ? up_the_irons u around? heavysixer hi can u help me out on something? up_the_irons ! nuke`: hi jpalmer my vps is getting lots of traffci prolly an attack and i can seem to stop it, i prolly get maxed out my badnwith soon :| nuke`: most modern OS's have a built-in firewall you can enable, to block traffic from specific IP's. can u give me any help? i have apf installed i tried block it with iptables but doestn seem to work i open iptraf and its still there making traffic keep in mind, that firewall won't stop the traffic coming in over the pipe. what do u mean over the pipe? it won't stop the traffic from counting against your bandwidth. for bandwidth issues, I'd suggest sending an email to support@ with the details (what is happening and why) to see if ARPNetworks can either help block the traffic upstream, or find some kind of mutually acceptable workaround for the increased bandwidth. on iptraf i see its all on port 22 udp would that make any difference so i can block it or something? you can block it, sure. but again, it's not going to stop it from counting against your traffic. the *ONLY* way to have it not count against your traffic, is to not GET the traffic. hence my suggestion to email support@arpnetworks.com ok ty u omg it just passed 50G 67G this month and my limit its 100 im toasted well when its like 5G left i will just shutdown the vps :| well, thats an option too, I guess. I'm not sure if traffic sent to the IP of an offline VPS would count against you or not. (It' still your traffic, even if you aren't answering it) so im pretty must toasted unless up_the_irons comes and block those 3 ip's I'd *strongly* suggest sending an email to support@arpnetworks.com with as many details as you can provide, and see what can be done about it. already did gonna try see where those ip's are coming from and report it to their isp's good luck. I'm heading out to feed the horses. ok, ty u how's it going
