RandalSchwartz: I take it you're liking mailroute.info ? Question about VPS and allowed things to do... If I was to get a VPS, is it allowed to run IRC servers on it? yeah just don't do illegal things or you get booted well, sure haha :) yea of course I run all sorts of servers on my... servers. :) Ozzer: yes: http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/main/do-you-allow-irc-traffic nice Ozzer: :) I don't do anything big on mine... just been burnt in the paste why are people always looking for irc server locations? *shrugs* RandalSchwartz: people a lot of hosts don't allow it and not just use channels on freenode or something? because freenode sucks. I multipurpose my stuff RandalSchwartz: i suppose it is a control / privacy thing maybe <-- likes to be on small servers freenode glined me (another client) because of an 'open proxy' that wasn't :P er... whatever they call global bans here. these servers are so small, you can't even see them! RandSchwartz but the fact remainds smaller irc servers are just as big of targets for ddos freenode also suffers from terminal stupidity, ie the javascript-based attacks of a year or so ago sometimes even more so due to obusive operator behavio because whoever configures the servers decided anti-spoofing protection, that's been in every ircd since the dawn of time, was no longer necessary :P spoofing is the dumbest idea ever if you spoof someone it just means they will packet your server instead of that person I... okay, but that has nothing to do with what I was saying. hahhahaha but you have a point freenode sucks *shrugs* i've been attached to IRC since the late 90s (yea, i'm a young adopter) so I can't not run one to support my 20 person irc network haha jdoe: then you also have the fact the same organization responsible for that attack also hacked their admin passwords like 2-3 times and ruined the whole network for extended periods of time Aight, well thanks again for the info :) Have a good one hi r hey fink
