hey all heya toddf hows it going slowly... ;-) hehe if I suspect my vps may have been attacked last night what recourse do I have? it may have been some wierd routing stuff or network stuff but I had trouble getting into my vps for quite a while last night and my clients dropped a couple times nesta: did you check your bandwidth graphs or do you think it was otherwise? recourse is, you get the vps, you admin it, period. if you need to, hit vnc hit f12 boot from cd and re-install. depending on if you are thinking you were compromised or if you think there was just flaky internet in general. yeah I was just wondering if there were tools to check or something(like a bandwidth graph) I never have much need to check something like I keep my firewall on and log and block all spam boxes etc I will look for the bandwidth graph, I assume that is in the portal somewhere yeh it's in the portal if you requested it. ah damn okay once you request it it will still show previous usage, btw. so don't dispair. right I even got to see the prior user of my IP of my vps on my graph when it was first setup. ;-) I need to email them my uuid yeh? just send an email to support@ with your portal username, vps UUID, and ask to have it setup. cool thanks sent ;) toddf: you should re-establish your session to console.cust using IPv6 :) Just enabled it the other day up_the_irons, is there a way to change the vnc password? coil: by emailing support, yes great, thanks np up_the_irons++ Lefty++ heh -- C++ -- up_the_irons: I noted it on twitter, nice. yes, indeed I should. Warning: Permanently added the RSA host key for IP address '2607:f2f8:0:102::5' to the list of known hosts. nice :) you're the first, I think tcp6 0 0 2607:f2f8:0:102:.22 2001:470:ba0a::7.48729 ESTABLISHED hi up_the_irons, I sent an email requesting a bandwidth graph for my VPS whenever you have a moment. :) awesome woo hoo. connected to 2607:f2f8:0:102::5 and only 6 days to spare! muhahaha did you see my faux news piece? ... http://merlyn.posterous.com/the-internet-is-nearly-out-of-ip-addresses-as ... Web developers have tried to compensate for this problem by creating IPv6 -- a system that recognizes six-digit IP addresses rather than four-digit ones. wow just wow heh heh, no hadn't seen that, silly link circles back on itself too, ipv6 must be broken! oh heck - they fixed that merlyn.posterous.com has no AAAA record booh hiss ;-) blame posterous I have No Control Over What Others Do over which you have no say so? ;-) i wonder how many commentors are because I sent them there it was one of the most retweeted links I posted recently fox news haters intersect well with geeks :) anyone else having performance issues with their vps? yo amdprophet seems to be better now, couldn't barely even run top i didn't get any load alerts up_the_irons, how do you feel about 100% CPU load application for a few days? is CPU oversold much or does each VM basically have its own core anyway so that's ok? lucky: if the load becomes excessive, then your vps would be shut down temporarily. we'd email you and ask you to lower the load. this doesn't happen very often, but i've had people sometimes make the host load go to 30, which is far from reasonable, so i have to shut down their vps and send a note I'm trying out mailroute.info looks like a great way to offsite most of my incoming spam, and provide a reliable outbound releay cool RandalSchwartz: looks pretty good at face value. let me know how it works out. i'm beginning to think outsourcing my spam filtering is a good idea :) I recognize the scores as being spamassassin scores I presume he has local tweaks one thing you can do with having 100s of customers is recognize broad spam hard to do for just one domain yeah up_the_irons: any chance I can get my bandwidth graph up soon? I have to go to sleep now nesta: nope, I'm going to do all support requests tonight (PST) okay I wonder if the he.net countdown counter will now just stay at 6 days until the "handout day" "could happen this week" the geekosphere is in a tizzy over this countdown
