LOL, another user trying to cheat on homework I still get people submitting text book problems in my "Contact Us" form rofl! you talking about the guy asking the arp questions yesterday? yup yeah, I decided to nip that in the bud, as soon as he mentioned a test. haha 3 options. #1) fail it, #2) reschedule it, or #3) learn it fast. heh yup What, really? what happened howdy arghh.. Got that I failed to identify as my requested names and got name guest###. How to change? IRC newbie.. /nick newname Thanks 36302 aye ;) what is this channel for? sales? support? tech talk? I'd say a little of all of the above goes on here ok. quick one then.. currently using arp networks for a small VM of mine.. at my day job.. we are using Rackspace cloud I want to suggest we try some VMs from arp.. the one concern may be time to deploy new VMs.. how long does it usually take to get a new VM? the little VM I have is rock solid and I am happy, but the VMs at work are totally different beasts... 10Gb to 100GB+ type of scenarios don't think traffic will be heavy, but we tend to use a lot of space so.. what are usually time to deploy new VMs? Don't even recall how long it took to setup my little VM since I first set it up on a trial bases.. so was not really paying attention to setup time.. It's about 24 hours to deploy a new VM. If you need something more urgent you may be able to arrange something with Garry, though so far as I know no one has done this. Email support@ for that. francisco-reyes: ^ francisco-reyes: if you need faster turn-around for new VMs, we can talk. I'm making a big push to expand this year (double in size), so anything that can help with that I'm interested in pursuing francisco-reyes: the general turn-around time is 24 hours. What I can't beat with Rackspace Cloud is the near instant setup of new VMs. I think I beat them on performance though. i would rather wait and have better performance and more choice personally :P vcs: as do most around here ;) Rackspace Cloud, as I understand it, isn't a "here's root on a minimal FreeBSD system, go do whatever" kind of thing. Or is it? up_the_irons: would a lisp customer service AI manager help? Finally hit 60+ users in here as someone who's used the rackspace FreeBSD systems.. it's not just a "minimal freebsd system" its a "heavily bastardized, and linuxified FreeBSD system" for example, they won't do custom partitions.. and at the time there was no way to reinstall the OS yourself. they allow root ssh logins, and I could *NOT* find how they had it enabled. checked all the usual suspects like sshd_config and such.. bash was the default root shell (which is absurd. update the wrong port, and now root can't even login to his own home directory on the console without fixit mode.. ) etc etc. sladNed6 Oops wrong post... ;-)
