[21:54] <jpalmer> as someone who's used the rackspace FreeBSD systems..  it's not just a "minimal freebsd system"  its a "heavily bastardized, and linuxified FreeBSD system"  for example,   they won't do custom partitions.. and at the time there was no way to reinstall the OS yourself.
[21:55] <jpalmer> they allow root ssh logins,  and I could *NOT* find how they had it enabled.  checked all the usual suspects like sshd_config and such..   bash was the default root shell (which is absurd.  update the wrong port, and now root can't even login to his own home directory on the console without fixit mode.. )  etc etc.
