I want to suggest we try some VMs from arp.. the one concern may be time to deploy new VMs.. how long does it usually take to get a new VM? the little VM I have is rock solid and I am happy, but the VMs at work are totally different beasts... 10Gb to 100GB+ type of scenarios don't think traffic will be heavy, but we tend to use a lot of space | [18:40] |

| jpalmer | as someone who's used the rackspace FreeBSD systems.. it's not just a "minimal freebsd system" its a "heavily bastardized, and linuxified FreeBSD system" for example, they won't do custom partitions.. and at the time there was no way to reinstall the OS yourself.
they allow root ssh logins, and I could *NOT* find how they had it enabled. checked all the usual suspects like sshd_config and such.. bash was the default root shell (which is absurd. update the wrong port, and now root can't even login to his own home directory on the console without fixit mode.. ) etc etc. | [21:54] |
