<br> but, in answer to your question, no.. a 3rd computer should not answer the ARP request for a who-has that they don't have.

jpalmer: well, if random computers answered an arp request, when they don't have the IP.. networking as we know it simply wouldn't work.

jpalmer: <u>anunez</u>: IF you have multile machines answering an ARP request, try clearing your arp cache. otherwise, you probably have an IP conflict.

jpalmer: in that case, you'd probably stsart seeing runts on the wire. they can be seen in a packet capture.
