[06:48] <jpalmer> G: I'd generally recommend no backup MX.  but if you insist on doing it,  amke sure it's configured identically to the primary (as in, spam filters and pre-data checks)    it becomes an administrative nightmare if one server is different than another.  especially if the backup accepts mail that the rimary eventually rejects.
[06:49] <jpalmer> honestly though,   in todays internet.. all RFC compliant mailservers will retry for several days.  There is very little reason to run a backup MX.
