[07:41] http://wiki.debian.org/DebianIPv6 [07:41] http://www.debian-administration.org/article/Running_IPv6_in_practice [07:44] im going by vcs guide for openbsd at http://wiki.arpnetworks.com/wiki/48%20IPv6%20on%20OpenBSD [07:45] however, openbsd is a bit diff than debian [07:46] hmms [07:46] for example, i know i need to add fe80::1 as gateway and fe80::2 as an address but would the be netmask 48 or netmask 64 in /etc/network/interfaces [07:46] are you doing this on debian or obsd ? [07:46] debian [07:46] just add them in interfaces then [08:05] *** Sunil has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [08:09] *** fink has joined #arpnetworks [08:21] *** ziyourenxiang has quit IRC (Quit: ziyourenxiang) [08:25] *** fink has quit IRC (Quit: fink) [08:59] *** fink has joined #arpnetworks [09:11] *** tinono has joined #arpnetworks [09:18] *** tinono has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [09:59] *** fink has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [10:05] *** dyker1der has joined #arpnetworks [10:16] so can anyone help me, im having trouble with configuring ipv6 on debian? [11:10] http://wiki.debian.org/DebianIPv6 [11:10] yeah i'm looking for someone to help instead of pasting links [11:10] i've already saw them all [11:10] *** BarberRonny has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [11:11] *** BarberRonny has joined #arpnetworks [11:11] what problem are you having? [11:11] ive done tryed damn near every combination in /etc/network/interfaces [11:11] i'm running debian [11:12] i tryed going by vxs guide for openbsd for this same thing with same host [11:13] and i get 'Reconfiguring network interfaces...SIOCADDRT: File exists' whenever i /etc/init.d/networking restart [11:14] if you do ifconfig -a or "ip addr" do you see your ipv6 address? [11:14] yea [11:14] inet6 addr: fe80::5054:ff:fe27:2351/64 Scope:Link [11:15] *** dyker1der has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [11:15] my network is 2607:f2f8:34c0::/48 and gateway is fe80::1/64 [11:16] ive tryed making fe80::1 the gateway in interfaces file and address fe80::2 [11:17] and tryed other things as well [11:17] that address, fe80:: is a link-local one (like a mac address with ipv4) [11:17] you can't use it to talk to the outside world [11:18] ive also tryed 2607:f2f8:34c0::1 as gateway [11:18] but in the guide for openbsd it says this -> As root, first open the file "/etc/mygate". Replace the IPv6 line with the IPv6 gateway: "fe80::1%em0", where em0 is the name of your external network interface. [11:18] that should be right, but you also have to give your host its proper address, right [11:18] the %em0 syntax is a bsd thing, it won't work with linkx [11:19] s/linkx/linux/ [11:19] ye [11:19] so i should edit /etc/hosts [11:19] and replace ::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback to that 2607:1 ip? [11:19] try getting it working with the ifconfig or ip commands first [11:19] worry about the configuration files later [11:20] so something like: [11:20] ifconifg eth0 inet6 add 2607:f2f8:34c0::2/48 [11:21] route -A inet6 default gw 2607:f2f8:34c0::1 [11:21] (rather ifconfig ipv6 add eth0 2607:...) or something. linux has funny non-standard syntax for these things [11:40] *** kitkatbar has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 252 seconds) [12:51] *** kitkatbar has joined #arpnetworks [13:16] *** kitkatbar has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection) [13:29] *** kitkatbar has joined #arpnetworks [13:29] ahahaha [13:35] *** kitkatbar has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [13:42] *** dyker1der has joined #arpnetworks [13:43] *** dyker1der has quit IRC (Client Quit) [14:33] *** byker1der has joined #arpnetworks [21:16] *** fink has joined #arpnetworks [21:34] *** vapor has joined #arpnetworks [22:36] *** fink has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [23:37] *** Sunil has joined #arpnetworks [23:48] *** Sunil has quit IRC (Quit: Lost terminal)
