If you think is a problem with the FreeBSD that the provider installed, you could probably request that they initialise the installer and you can complete it over VNC.

We came up with a great way to get teh server room temps down while the AC is broken. One fan on top of the rack is pushing hot air out the top of the door way and one air pushing cold air at the bottom towards the server intake.
whenever up_the_irons gets around to it :)
Temps dropped by 60% easily.
