so what's the babysitting daemon of choice? I have a fragile process that I want always running so I need a robust daemon above it I could use init(8) I guess but wondering if there's a better solution RandalSchwartz: runit we're talking freebsd too, in case it matters runit isn't core and I'd prefer nothing by DJB infest my system +1 i dislike djb's stuff it's not from djb oh - it's a replacement for djb's stuff i guess you could modify the startup script to only start if not already running, then just shove it in cron */1 or sth it works well, I use it, up_the_irons uses it, ymmv bit hacky but might work :) yeah, there might be a minute delay though runit looks interesting, but replacing process 1 looks... scary ahh - there's a "use with traditional init" solution don't do that then, it works perfectly without replacing init yeah, I see that. :) oooh .. runit is broken on HEAD hehe RandalSchwartz: runit is the way to go ok even though it's broken for HEAD? :) I wonder what utmpx is RandalSchwartz: hmm, i just use whatever version that comes packaged yeah, but that's the one that's flagged as broken for HEAD, meaning the next release of fbsd hopefully someone will fix it before a new release i c I'll give it an install in my virtualbox image first... see how disruptive it is Hmm. haven't updated my ports since aug 28 there... this'll take a while "fetching 74 new ports or files" I do that once a week or so fetch 74 files? ) Yeah :D Btw, RandalSchwartz. I learned something new today! How to properly close emacsclients :p I joined to just give a Kudos for how stable and fast the VPS I ordered is, pure awesome. A+++ up_the_irons! ;) I just had to! no one else has problems with ipv6 disconnecting ? from irc 15:53:15 < sheath> no one else has problems with ipv6 disconnecting ? 15:53:20 < sheath> from irc 16:15:34 irc: disconnected from server Heh. Hmm I just can't get ipv6 to work why not Arch doesn't seem to like it :( ah up_the_irons :( I didn't have any routing to my VPS for a couple of minutes before! can I get the IPv6 assigned to my server ? w/ RDNS Delegation ? Or should I open a ticket for that ? Hmm.. I don't see a ticketing system on the portal.. how to do I create a ticket ? just email support@arpnetworks.com yeah you'll need to email for rdns delegation to create a ticket, "start a discussion" darn it - my IP address is blocked sending to all google apps. :( and there doesn't appear to be any way to fix it at google's end. proxy? well - yeah, but I would also want to know why they think I'm *now* a spam source and didn't a few weeks ago. there's no info in the rejection notice, except about bulk mailers. I've never been a bulk mailer from this address. Cr4zi3: there is a link entitled "Help Desk" in the Portal, that's the ticketing system; but support@arpnetworks.com is also the same thing irons; thnx.. did you get my email that I sent ? up_the_irons Cr4zi3: probably for IPv6 and RDNS delegation if you sent it to support, it's in the system Cr4zi3: btw, if you don't know how to deal with routing a /48 over a link-local address, we will not route the /48 to you; that configuration is for expert users only well I have setup HE IPv6 tunnels before.. but I can easily find out what I need to do also.. is that the same setup ? the uplink is HE, correct ? Cr4zi3: Our IPv6 has nothing to do with HE. HE is one of our peers, but there are others. What I'm afraid of is I'll set up the /48 routing and you will not know how to deal with it, thereby sending additional support tickets. This is why the /64 is the default and "just works" Cr4zi3: basically the Portal settings for IPv6 will be updated with the new information, and it is up to you to figure it out yea, I'm already working on tryin to figure it out.. ;) I've never had a customer not have problems with the /48, except for toddf ;) Cr4zi3: so if you still want the /48 routed, know that you are "on your own"; i will not answer any questions about it. so let me know if you still want to go that route (no pun intended, lol) lemme do some research, and I will let you know.. Cr4zi3: ok could you tell me what the link-local if would look like by chance ? I think I have the info I need.. but I want to read up some more.. ok, I'm willing to give it a try..
