instead of a /48 for ipv6 ballen: heh are you really coming to miss those addresses?
going* nesta: lol ***: heavysixer has joined #arpnetworks
ChanServ sets mode: +o heavysixer IPv6Freely: Only if you need more than one subnet, for whatever reason, I guess. sheath: ballen, im just wondering so i can set this persons server up right IPv6Freely: pretty sure you have to specifically request a /48
At least, that's what the site says. ballen: whats the IP Block Detail in the portal say for the VM? sheath: i dont have access to that
well....i have the default pass for everything i guess i can login
oh that didn't wor
but ifconfig reports prefixlen of 64 so thats what im going off of Cr4zi3: anyone know when irons will be around ? sheath: hes usually around later in the night Cr4zi3: damn..
if I call the # would he answer ? sheath: idk im not his mother though
no idea, i've always talked to him by email jdoe: sheath: make sure you're looking at the right line... sheath: inet6 2607:f2f8:a2a0::2 prefixlen 64 jdoe: dunno, maybe he changed how he does things. I've got a /48 Cr4zi3: if I had more time I could help u w/ IPv6.. sheath: yeah same here Cr4zi3: I have to get back to work tho..
only on lunch.. jdoe: well there's nothing really to help with if he hasn't been assigned a /48, he'd have to talk to up_the_irons I guess. IPv6Freely: jdoe: like i said, its a /64 by default, you have to request a /48
that's what it says on the site. jdoe: hmm, really?
I guess it's been a while since I signed up. IPv6Freely: yes.
yeah, it may have been changed, i dont know. I'm new here. I just know thats what it says. sheath: yeah
i got ya
he used to give out 48's
thats no big deal i was just wondering IPv6Freely: yeah, makes sense to change it though... no sense in giving a single host more than that. If you need more because you're doing something wonky, you just have to ask. ***: sheath has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out)

BeBoo_ has joined #arpnetworks up_the_irons: for the record, all customers are still allocated a /48, but only the first /64 is assigned to the interface. there is no need to assign more. if one wants the /48 *routed* over link-local, we can do that, but unless one knows what this actually means, then there is _no need_ for a /48 on the interface. /48 is meant to be broken up into separate subnets. i can't see why this would be needed
if one only has one vps, unless one is using it for vpn
if one has multiple VMs, then that may be a different story BeBoo_: Gotcha ***: heavysixer has quit IRC (Quit: heavysixer) IPv6Freely: up_the_irons: precisely :) ***: boogeyman has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 276 seconds)
