as long as your problems fit inside 512G or 1T of ram its still cheaper to use Dell R910s

half a million bought ~240 cores with gigE interconnects a couple years ago.

for under 200k
so 160 core, 2.5T
different target though... this was for a math group, so the problem could be broken up pretty effectively, but was discrete enough that the interconnect didn't matter too much
I think we had a gig per core, so 240G
