Anyone ever use or test Fusion-IO SSD PCI-e cards?
[09:09]
............. (idle for 1h2mn)
phluxNegative :|
Does ARPNetworks have machines in multiple datacenters, or just the one?
[10:12]
ballenI think its just at Wilshire Annex
although I haven't been hanging around here much in the past few months
[10:19]
Sheathyeah i think its just one [10:20]
phluxAlrighty
Wish they had more :[10:26] <phlux> would love to get rid of some of these Linode VPSes
[10:26]
cmeiklejohnphlux: I just transitioned two of my linodes a month or so back. [10:28]
phluxto who? [10:29]
cmeiklejohnARP
:)
[10:29]
phluxah
Well, I mainly run an IRC network with my VPSes
So it wouldn't be beneficial to have them all in the same location
[10:29]
ballentrue, so get VPS' from multiple providers [10:30]
phluxYeah, that's what I've got going right now [10:30]
cmeiklejohnWho are you using? [10:30]
phluxI've got one with ARP (though I might be looking at an openbsd one soon for an unrelated project..), some with Linode, and one with CoreNetworks [10:30]
cmeiklejohnBesides linode, that is? [10:30]
phluxOut of all of them, ARP is the most stable/fastest by far. [10:31]
cmeiklejohnAhh [10:31]
phluxand it's the only one that will support FreeBSD
All of the others are Gentoo, and I've got one Debian.
Though, recently I installed ArchLinux on a partition on my laptop, and I'm loving it so far.
[10:32]
ballenyea Arch is nice if you like FreeBSD
only problem is its Bleeding edge
no matter if you want to be or not
[10:33]
phluxlol, yeah [10:34]
ballenso you'll run into issues eventually [10:34]
phluxwell right now HAL is having issues with my synaptics touchpad.
I have to manually enable tapping and horizontal scrolling with synclient, even though the policy specifies otherwise.
[10:34]
ballenyea laptops + linux never worked out well for me [10:35]
phluxwell, I will tell you this
My broadcom 4312 wifi worked nearly out of the box
[10:35]
ballennot bad [10:36]
phluxI had to install two packages from the CD (the broadcom driver and wpa_supplicant) and I was up and running. [10:36]
ballenyea [10:36]
phluxI had ArchLinux installed, X running, wifi working, and all USB peripherals going within 25 minutes. [10:36]
