I'm at San Diego Airport
waiting for my buddy to get off work, so I can grab a car and meet him up_the_irons: cool RandalSchwartz: then we're making a "run for the border"
ta keeeeee la! -: RandalSchwartz does the pee-wee herman dance up_the_irons: lol, nice jdoe: lol
YOU BOYS LIKE MEX-EEE-COOOOOOOO? awyeah: That's one of the best movies ever.
meow, do you know how fast you were going?
I think there's a sequel coming out this year or next. RandalSchwartz: pee wee 2: back in action? :)
ok - going off grid for a couple of days... might as well not even lurk here.
later ***: RandalSchwartz has quit IRC (Quit: see you sunday afternoon)

I'd considered a year or two ago, on possibly buying a toshiba laptop with opensolaris pre-installed
that sucks :(
wikipedia is already updated btw
so I guess now, the ZFS alternatives will go their separate ways ***: baklava has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 258 seconds)

baklava has joined #arpnetworks jdoe: mattx86: I imagine things are going to continue much as before.
... just under a different name, and more open (for some definition of open)
there's just going to be a really long delay.
illumos is going for a complete open build by the end of the year
... at which point the opensolaris distros are going to have to figure out what to do with it.
so I figure by this time next year, we might see what should have been 2010.03 mattx86: ah, interesting observation :)
does make one wonder what the likes of companies/organizations like nexenta will do
kinda makes me wonder when they'll pull the plug on mysql ;) jdoe: doubt it.
er
sorry, I misread. mattx86: ah jdoe: nexenta's already using b134 in their stuff... at least in nexentaos, dunno about nexentastor
... so clearly it's "stable enough" for now.
I figure they'll throw some support (code, money) behind illumos and ride it. mattx86: illumos.org right? ***: Ehtyar has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection)
Ehtyar has joined #arpnetworks mattx86: interesting that they announced the project on Aug 3rd, 10 days prior to the oracle leak
seems people already had their ideas about oracle's plans ***: _Ehtyar has joined #arpnetworks jdoe: I think most people saw it coming at that point.
... that and I mean, I imagine some information was leaking out of Oracle. mattx86: yeah
must've angered a few opensolaris developers at oracle jdoe: shrug
they didn't kill off solaris
and they didn't stop releasing code
they'll just release it at the same time as the official solaris releases.
... and possibly incomplete (there's some closed source stuff) mattx86: yeah
welp, more power to illumos ***: Ehtyar has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection) jdoe: yep. ***: nuke` has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 258 seconds)
