Hmm hi dxtr :) hello Hey, up_the_irons err How come my jail isn't allowed to use sockets? :P Operation not permitted That kind of sucks Yay! Got it working dxtr: that's default behaviour, unless you allow it. cedwards: yeah? What is the default behaviour exactly? Because I set up nsd and I can access it But I can't ping stuff jails aren't alowed to access sockets by default. dxtr: are you using ezjail or standard jail? ezjails there should be very few situations where you need direct socket access inside a jail. ah, yeh it's a simple systcl setting sysctl cedwards: Well then :P at least I don't need socket access from any of my jails. has anyone used the zfs send/receive functions to replicate snapshots across systems? Awesome Yay woot? I'm back \o Is it possible to jail my mailserver and let my (local) users still get the mail without bloating it with pop3, imap or something? :p webmail? forwards maybe? Webmail means I'll have to bloat it with a websever webserver dxtr: lighttpd or nginx aren't too bloated pop3 isn't bloating up your server, its really light but pop3 sucks use it over ssl :D I think I'll skip jailing then I have all my mail servers in jails. What is your concern? I don't want webmail, pop3 or imap That is my concern Are there any good alternatives to SpamAssassin+ I don't even bother with spamassassin. I do my filtering at the postfix level right then :) heh looks like I got zfs send/recv working between my two hosts. \o nice! I'll need to test some automation, but I should be able to send my daily snapshots to my second host for some redundancy. it'd be nice if there was a hot spare facility that was offsite not just in the same building :) I'm getting pretty poor transfer speeds between hosts: 5.48MB/sec cedwards: zfs send/recv is piss-slow we used to see about the same speeds on hosts that we knew were capable of 20 times that (sun thumpers connected via bonded gigabit)
