[22:27] pc600: can't say for sure, but I would think they are standard. the freebsd kernal is unmodified, so there should be no reason for ubuntu to be (that I can think of) [22:27] virtio may be added if it isn't there by default [22:27] *kernel [22:27] pc600: ^ [22:32] j3m - Trying to run something that broke post 2.6.23 it seems -- is it possible to upgade the whole ubuntu remotely to 9.10 or does that have a high failure rate? [22:32] gotta be honest, most of us run bsd or non-standard in here [22:34] Gotcha. I used to use freebsd, but ran into too much stuff that just didn't work on it (especially some game servers and lack of asterisk timing devices). That was a while ago, but I don't know, maybe things are the same. [22:34] it should be fine I would imagine, and if you break it you can use VNC to remotely boot from an image of your install disc and fix most anything [22:35] everything I have tried has worked exactly the same as real hardware [22:35] I guess I have to figure out how to do that. I didn't know I had KVM access to it. [22:36] If so, and I can mount an ISO, I don't mind nuking the thing and installing whatever I please. [22:36] I think you have to open a ticket to change the boot image, by default it is left at whatever os you started with [22:37] but they will generally have no problem with that, at least none that I have heard of [23:11] *** au has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection) [23:11] yeah, they've been cool with it when I needed it [23:21] *** AndrewBC has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 272 seconds) [23:22] *** AndrewBC has joined #arpnetworks [23:25] *** AndrewBC has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [23:26] *** AndrewBC has joined #arpnetworks [23:39] *** pc600 has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 272 seconds)
