up_the_irons: ping re: my rebuild ticket up_the_irons: no rush, just wondering if I can do any more to help verify the right machine (ie; create an account for you on the right box, etc) cedwards: no, just as long as you've verified the uuid, i will run with that fingers crossed then :) :) market survey: would people pay $89 / month for a VPS with 1TB of disk space? or say, a dedicated Atom box, with 1TB of disk thinking of a "media" plan, with lots of disk space, but not necessarily lightning performance disk space isn't a big selling point for me. for me it's performance and bandwidth. roger but that's just me. I'm sure I'm not the "normal" use case. I have a friend asking for it... he runs a server at home just for access to a big volume. He reminded me that no one offers a VPS with really large disks (on order of 1TB) lol I don't even think any of the servers at my office have 1TB hahaha yeah. we suck. i have a hosting account with dreamhost for some friends to use my available disk space: unlimited not quite sure what'd happen if i tried to fill it, though :) only using 11gb atm is that one of those shared hosting unlimited everything plans? yeah, seems to have become that... had it for years i found that those shared 'unlimited' plans work.. until you try to use it. then they always find some reason why you're using too much of this or that. on the whole, it works pretty good - but i'm by nomeans a heavy user :) up_the_irons: people will pay about that much for a low-powered server, but they'll expect more bandwidth. up_the_irons: look at the dedicated options from ovh, iweb etc. up_the_irons: i used to always do colocation, until i realized hardware sucks up_the_irons: a good box with hardware raid10 is very pricey, which is what i would want to be one if you care about space and not speed, raid1 is probably fine... or 5, even. i care about speed and protection at work, we pay $1800/mo for "AT&T" *shared* webhosting why? "because it's a well know name" i can't count the amount of times i've face palmed after seeing what we're paying for it's the old adage - 'no one ever got fired for buying IBM' replace IBM with 'well known provider' :) yup hello all help need in PFSENSE? anyone used it? anyone there?
